  1. Thanks Chilly. I've actually been pretty much housebound for a year now, think I've been out 3 times since then, twice to the doctors and once to the hospital. Stir Crazy or what.
  2. Morning everybody. Happy Birthday Bjay. I flippin' well hope not. It is such a pleasant day here that I am taking what is for me is a very big step. I will be trying to go out for the first time in weeks. It had better not rain on my parade !! Have a good day.
  3. Jax. With all due respect I really do wonder where you get some of your information from. RM/PO losing money hand over fist ?? Their profits almost doubled in the last financial report. Let's stick to the weather. It's a bright and sunny evening here in the suburbs, and I hope it is wherever you are.
  4. Hi Reevesie. One of the many good things about the SE/EA thread is that it's a friendly place, and there is no such thing as a silly question. There are some very knowledgeable folk here so don't be afraid to ask questions. As a complete amateur myself, looking at the current radar it does look possible that the activity over northern France may head our way later today but I have my doubts as to whether it can be sustained. It's brightened up considerably here in Nw London in the last hour or so.
  5. Sorry for any confusion, no thunder or lightning here today either so far, but several episodes since the start of the year. Could be a Kent Clipper in the making ?
  6. Just a few miles north of Hounslow/Heathrow and Uxbridge here and the skies are a uniform sheet of slate grey, becoming darker by the minute. Not a breath of wind to be felt, and the first drops of rain are now falling. I have already heard more rumbles of thunder in the first 62 days of 2014 than I did in the whole of 2013. The stillness and growing darkness are quite eerie, I love the build up to a storm.
  7. Yep as per MK's post's above, this threat of t/storms has been mentioned a number of times here on NW. Fingers crossed for those of us who like them eh ? Edited: Some promising looking skies showing on the Bognor Regis live webcam at the moment. http://www.bognorregisbeach.co.uk/live
  8. Morning all. For some of our members down that way the EA have issued a warning for high tides and waves on the South Coast between Fairlight and Dungeness, and also for the tidal stretches of the River Rother, particularly Rye Harbour. Take care and have a good day.
  9. Hi Alix. Hands up I am a complete amateur weather wise but yes, the rainfall radar does seem to be showing a line of very sharp showers currently over the Channel Islands and heading eastwards.
  10. Possible squall line forming over the Channel Islands ?? I wouldn't rule out the odd rumble of thunder here in London and the South East overnight.
  11. Lol. Fair enough Jax but a brand new battery for the Ford Ka is widely available for less than 30 quid from a number of sources, including the likes of KwikFit. I drive an all singing, all dancing 2.4 Volvo which has just about every gadget you can imagine , and a brand new battery for that only set me back £65. With all due respect do you not think you might be going for a false economy, by draining every last drop out of your knackered old battery ? I hope you don't take my post the wrong way, it is well intentioned. Back to the weather, and it's now a grey old day here.
  12. Good grief man, have you ever considered just buying a new battery ?? It would probably work out cheaper than all the electricity you are using to charge the current one on an apparently weekly basis. The sun has finally given up the fight here and it's now overcast with the wind picking up a notch or two. Still at least it's Spring.
  13. Morning all. It's another reasonable start to the day here with the sun doing it's best to brighten things up through some fairly thick cloud. Apart from that I am 'looking forward' to yet another thoroughly boring day here in the wilderness. Have a good one folks.
  14. I'm Confused.com. So, as the comedian Micky Flanagan may have said, "You went OUT, but you didn't go OUT OUT . Just catching up on some of my recorded tv programmes here this morning and I'm currently watching Channel 4's 'The storms that stole Christmas'. It's actually quite good as far as weather related programmes go and worth catching up on if you haven't seen it yet. What strikes me most is the sheer resillience of some folk, and the abject stupidity of others. Human nature at it's best and worst. Well the sun is breaking through quite nicely here in the suburbs so I wish all you good folk a nice weekend, and later on today I will be raising a glass or two to celebrate the arrival of the Meteorological Spring, whilst watching my team hopefully beat our near neighbours in Sw London.
  15. Morning all. It's a reasonable start to the day here, dry and fairly bright so musn't grumble. Happy St Davids Day to Ruthie and anyone else from that neck of the woods. I wonder if there are any plans afoot to make the eloquent and critically acclaimed AS an honorary Welshman in the not too distant future ? No fog here Ruth, are you sure it's not smoke ?
  16. I always enjoy Arnies top notch time lapse videos. Great work again feller.
  17. Quite the opposite, but Bognor Regis have thoughtfully provided one of the best quality live webcams right there on the South Coast
  18. Looking at the rainfall radar I'm not suprised to see the reports of frequent rain just a few miles to the north of my location, whilst here it has been dry for several hours and quite bright at times. Iv'e just been watching the fishing boats being hauled a few feet further up the beach at Bognor following this mornings high tide, not overly suprised having watched it this morning. The things you watch when you're housebound eh ? Knocks spots off daytime tv though that's for sure.
  19. Morning all.. It's brightening up a touch here after a spell of heavy rain earlier. Following my daily fix of the Bognore Regis webcam and with another 20 minutes to high tide I'm quite suprised how lively it looks down there. Happy Poets day one and all.
