  1. As KS said above there are 2 separate warnings out for snow. South Yorks is covered in the other warning which states - Issued at: Early rain over western Britain is expected to turn to snow as it spreads eastwards during Sunday. Snow cover is likely to be very variable, with some places seeing little settling, others 2-4 cm, and with the potential for 10 cm or more over parts of the Midlands, Kent an Essex, especially later in the day. The public should be aware of the risk of disruption, particularly to travel. Temp 0.9C here now with a dew point of -3.8C. Can't see much more than a flurry here tomorrow, that's if it's not rain. Hopefully some beefy showers in the next few days though!
  2. Just had a light snow shower that's given a little dusting. Another fun trip to work in the morning on my bike if it freezes! Temp 2.0C. Dew Point -3.8C. Looks like it will!
  3. Had a couple of decent snow showers in last hour. Covering on the grass and slushy on the road. Temp 2.2C with a dew point of -0.7C. Looks like plenty more showers heading in over next couple of hours.
  4. The temp drop is impressive isn't it! Back up to 5.5C here now and snow cover has melted. The temp really yo-yo ing between showers. IF we keep the shower activity after dark i reckon we could see some accumulation here.
  5. Heavy snow here now. Settling on the grass only but it's really blowing about! Temp dropping fast in the shower. From 5.5C to 2.2C in around 5 mins! Dew point now -1.7C! Not sure if that line of showers is has colder 850hpa temps behind it but a massive drop in temperature here now. It's now 1.2C. That's a 4.3C drop in just 20mins! Quite impressive!
  6. Ever get the feeling you're talking to yourself! Woke up to rain this morning. Temp of 4.8C. Just had a decent shower rattle through which had some quite decent sized flakes mixed in. Temp dropped now to 1.9C! Dew point 0.2C. Might just end up with a little surprise covering again like yesterday!
  7. Been at work all day. Impressively heavy snow between 2 and 4pm giving a few centimetres before turning sleety. Rise in temp means most of it's gone already but it was quite impressive nonetheless! 4.6C here now with a dew point of 0.8C. Expecting a quite a few showers tomorrow. Might be a bit wintry but not expecting anything too exciting.
  8. Looks like anywhere in the region could see some snow over the next 24 hours. 850hpa temps between -4 and -7C, dam below 528. just need the precipitation. The further west the better but it looks like the strength of the wind will be enough to blow plenty of showers over the Pennines. Snow showers are forecast even here as far East as the coast. Warming up slightly overnight tomorrow before attention turns more to the East of the region. May be a bit marginal here on the coast for a while but wintry showers continuing for the rest of the week. Wrap up warm!
  9. Woken up to a nice dusting here too. It won't be around long once the sun rises but it's nice to see again. Plenty more showers incoming too. Temp 1.6C with dew point of -1.9C.
  10. I do like a good Northerly toppler! A fairly brief and not massively cold one overnight and tomorrow, but, enough to give 2-4cm's from convective snow showers right down the East Coast according to Chris Fawkes on BBC news 24.
  11. My snow pile has eventually disappeared! Recorded temp of 13.9C last night at 19.30! Some very squally showers about today. Had a real heavy one about an hour ago and sure i heard a rumble of thunder. The anemometers knackered on my station but my wheelie bin ended up 3 doors up the street. Nearest Met station at Fylingdales recorded a 56mph gust and Bridlington 54mph. More showers incoming now too.
  12. Anyone else think radar looks dodgy? Doing well so far! Looks amazing a bit further south mind!
  13. YEAH! Moderate snow for the last hour or so. Everything covered again. The bonus id the good stuff is no where near here yet. I'm expecting a good amount by morning! Temp -0.9C.
  14. Snowing heavily here in Scarborough. For those worried about marginality, temp has dropped from +0.2C to -0.6C since the snow arrived.
  15. I came from Brid to Foxholes at around 11.30 today and the roads were getting a covering from the drifts then! Just started here too. Nothing heavy yet but it's most definately snow! Temp 0.2C (Dew point -3.1C).
  16. Here's a photo from my previous post. This is coming down off the Wolds at Staxton Hill / Beverley Gate, looking toward Scarborough. Wouldn't like to be coming down there in a few hours time!
  17. Just got back from a nippy trip out. Drove to Flamborough. Driving down toward Bempton and there was some impressive drifting snow blowing off the fields which covered the road over in places. Carried on to a snowless Bridlington before heading up to the Wolds. Burton Fleming still being pumped out from recent flooding and the beck was still very high. There must be some nervous residents there! Headed over to Foxholes and back down to Scarborough via Staxton Hill which gave us some well impressive snowy views. Had a few light flurries in the last couple of hours and temp looking good so far. Currently 0.2C with a dew point of -3.6C. MO showing all snow here for now
  18. AHHHHH, MY EYES!!..... At last! A clear sky! looking forward to some sunshine today, can't remember last time it wasn't cloudy. Gotta say this week has been the worst kind of cold! Pretty much a steady +2C day and night! Constant cloud, occasional sleet and a continuous slow thaw and slush. Not nice really so looking forward to a change! Looking likely we could be in for a good dumping tonight before briefly turning to sleet. Might get one more sledging trip if i get up early enough tomorrow! Temp at -1.6C.
  19. Just had a short version of what to expect from Fridays event here! Chucked it down with snow for half hour, gave us a nice covering, even on the roads. It's now turned to rain and washed most of it away! Seems our luck is out after last weeks epicness!
  20. This is getting a bit tedious now! Temp only dropped below freezing once since Sunday. Dull, cloudy, cold with a constant slow thaw and slush on the ground. Thought we may be in for a bit of a bonus snow flurry or two today. Temp is 2.2C but dewpoint is -1.8C and as i type it's raining! How do you get rain with a Dew point of -1.8C? Anyway. Iv'e had my fun! I just want to see a bit of sunshine now instead of this endless grey!
  21. 2cm's fell overnight which started thawing this morning. Heavy sleet showers at the moment. Heavy enough to give another covering even though it's graupel / sleet! Glad i'm indoors. It looks ruddy awful!
  22. Well, not a complete disaster after all! Persistant light snow for the last 2 hours with the odd heavier burst that's given us 2cm's so far on previously thawed surfaces. Coming down quite nicely now and the temp is -0.5C. Dew point -0.7C. Looks like plenty more to come too.
  23. Ooooh, look at that shower activity just off land. Conditions perfect for snow now with temp -0.3C. PLEASE come this way!!
