My basic 2 cents.
Looking at the GFS perturbations, 11 out of the 20 have blocking South of Greenland between 144 + 180.
A few have a similar solution to the 00z GFS, with a decent cold spell up to between +144 & +220, but no blocking setting up and long term prospects not looking so good.
Some have the initial cold glancing us, but then blocking does setup, so long term things look yummy.
UKMO is hard to know where it would go, especially for me! I personally don't pay much attention to the raw output anyway, I'll let Exeter do the talking. The raw UKMO between +96 & +144 never seem to be great, it held onto the December ghost Easterly for too long.
Now we wait on the ECM,
Anyone who says there is not much snow potential is talking rubbish.
Anyone who says it is more likely that we get a good cold spell is also talking rubbish.
Just enjoy there being some interesting charts to discuss!

Can someone please explain the huge differences between how much Ice is showing on the National Ice Center website compared to everything other website!
http://www.natice.noaa.gov/ims/
I know there are normally some differences, but it's huge. Look how much ice they are currently still showing in the Beaufort Sea, Chuckchi Sea & East Siberian Sea.
Only 300km was lost between the 1st & 8th according to their graph, making things practically level with 2010, 2011 & 2007 a fair way below.
Everywhere else has 2012 rock bottom by a good margin currently.
Cheers gang. =)

I'm starting to get slightly worried. Eastbourne is always a degree or two warmer than surrounding areas as well.

Just when we think we are close to getting things nailed this ECM run appears. We keep saying oh next run we will know! Hah, damn you models!
It's only one run guys, no Prozac until all the models show this outcome and I have a strong feeling this run will be one of the warmest of the ensembles.

Well I like the look of that for Eastbourne, been watching the radar all day begging some showers to start.
