I didn't like the .28 past News24 forecast - snow "maybe" for the hills in the Midlands
and specific reference to the snow event not being comparable to last weeks
oh well - fingers crossed it doesn't pan out that way

If the threat of snowfall still exists for places under the 'Be Aware' advisories, they will be upgraded tomorrow morning as confidence levels will be greater than they are now. That's me reiterating what I said earlier.
That's not me being confident, that's just fact. They upgrade their warnings based on confidence and the severity of the event in question. I'll say no more on this subject.
agreed - but they also can suddenly all be removed too
we'll see

Clearly you didn't bother to properly hear their forecast and thought you would misinterprate their words? All the forecast I've seen show snow pretty much anywhere away from the coasts, and that's exactly what the models are showing.
er no ? this was the R. Mc forecast as of 15 mins ago
I was quite surprised at the positive mild spin, as he tends to favour the cold
I'll listen/watch more attentively at 20:28 and see if I misheard ....

just driven home (3 miles) started off as rain then heavy snow
back roads are absolutely appauling

Last night right for the west , wrong for here.
Depends where you live in this SEVERE spell i guess
P.s No i don't see 15cm coming out of this , 5cm MAX
that said we still have a good 2-3 inches of lying snow  - so can't complain
no way I'm going out on the roads tomorrow morning - even after the day of sun on our local (unsalted) roads, it was very dicey
-
Keeps decaying off the suffolk coast towards the estuary
EDIT : Winds picked up
why is the East (Essex/Suffolk etc) in a "orange flash warning zone" - we going to get 15cm of snow ?
<I'll get my coat>
looks like they got last night right, and tonight wrong

AFT, the snow does look fairly wet but I was somewhat expecting that, the thames region does look a touch warmer then surrounding areas however that hopefully will be balanced out by the snowfall coming up.
The fact that the MO have issued a warning of 6 inches for S.Essex, N.Kent and London strongly hints that they are expecting a thames snow streamer setting up in the next hour or so. Front is weakening further inland, probably suggesting the forcing is shifting back to the north sea where weak contvection firing up, hopefully these will explode when they reach the thames.
is that 6 inches on top of what we've already got ???!!

Ah but Danbury in on top of a hill. Downtown Chelmsford has about 1" to 1.5"
just goes to show how height makes a difference
we live in CHelmsford but on a hill (not Danbury) and 65m ASL
over 4 inches here

Can anyone in South Essex (South of Chelmsford) with a few inches of snow please post a pic. I'd like to see how wet it looks.
I'm happy and enjoying this... no complaints, this is December. Just conversation and observation!
I'm on the edge of South Chelmsford ~(Galleywood way) and we're well and truly still snow here
-
what potential depths could we be looking at come the morning ???
already 4 inches and now back to heavy snow again
-
measured the bin here in Chelmsford - just under 4 inches
and still snowing although not as hard as eariler
up to max amounts we had last year already - going to be interesting tomorrow morning if even more to come !
