  1. Using technology such as radar, webcams and ground based sensors combined with the expert opinion of experienced forecasters; the Met Office is able to declare whether or not (YES or NO) snow fell at the following locations on Christmas Day 2012: http://metofficenews...hite-christmas/ ………….or they could have just looked out of the window
  2. indeed take care if your going out on a Boxing Day walk along the coast ! Landslide and rockfall warning for south-west England A rare landslide and rockfall warning has been issued for south-west England by the British Geological Survey (BGS). The BGS has concerns about the stability of cliff edges and cliff sides because of the quantity and intensity of the recent heavy rain. It is worried about people going for Boxing Day walks, and is advising extra caution near cliff edges. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20842890

  6. Morning all, Hope your Christmas day has got off to a cracking start, all the presents have been opened in this house now..... (please note no pets were gift wrapped, all four of them like playing with the paper) Just the lunch to sort out now.... my main oven has chosen today of all days to break down and the turkey won't fit in the smaller oven but as luck would have it I have the key to next doors self contained annexe so I will be cooking the bird round there and popping back and forth to check on it while the roast spuds and other stuff cook round here !
  7. Merry Christmas Bob, I hope all the fresh supplies got through to the Shetlands during the storms this week and you have all the tinsel and turkey (and most importantly booze) you need to have a jolly good time up there :-) Best wishes Ali x

  10. Morning all and Merry Christmas Eve Guess what....it's raining here again, another 9mm since midnight ! Oh well, everything is done that can be done until tomorrow now so I'm just going to relax and enjoy the festivities, at least I got out and about in the brief respite yesterday. Meantime apparently a rare White Christmas is possible for northern Texas and Oklahoma, I wonder if it's too late for all you gamblers to change your bets
  11. It's only 7.7 °C here but still very mild, the upside of all this of course is the saving on the heating bills

  13. I've been walking in and around Buckingham (my old home town) this morning to look at the floods, the river Ouse runs through the town with several bridges crossing one side to the other The rivers normal level here would be about 0.48m but it's currently at 1.19m (highest recorded is 1.99m) A couple of roads were impassable so I had to take alternative routes the ditches are full and overflowing, it's been years since I've seen the surrounding fields under so much water! there is a lot of very fast flowing water moving downstream, the ducks seemed to be enjoying it though

  15. Good luck Mark It's been dry here since midnight and the temperature has dropped a couple of degrees (10.4 °C still ridiculously mild) it was the gusty SW'erly wind that woke me up this morning rather than rain hammering down...makes a change Happy Sunday, have a good one all....and stay safe
