  1. Yep, considering that would probably still be a hurricane, it sure would be rather breezy under it.

I notice interesting colors tonight/tomorrow on the Met Office Invent forecast rainfall maps http://www.metoffice...ent/weathermap/ They look thundery there, any chance they could be?

Some very heavy rain to come for areas of the South West and Wales, Wales looks to be taking the brunt of it today :)

  2. I find this an interesting snap shot of ECMWF - I would say there is some potential for the ridge to build in here, which if it does, could mean a burst of summer to come, and also the potential for a plume, given the orientation of the LP and ridge.

Rather more worryingly, what on Earth is that monster to the far West!! :good:

That my friend is the next hurricane to develop, it will be a massive hurricane that will find it's way into the jetstream hitting the the UK with strong winds and heavy rain.

  3. With all due respect DM .... there is a lot of respect for Ian shown on this site. However many folk do not take good notice of Ian's posts. e.g. he was doubting the comments on this thread of the severity of this event days ago and many on this thread are dissapoited tonight because they didn't take note. There always was a lot of uncertantly about today's events due to the higher temps than last week.

When Ian was excited early last week - he was right and we all hailed him.

Yea ok - my hands are up - not the sort of post folk like. I'll try and post some 'storm of the century on it's way, 1963 arrives again, won't be able to get to work for weeks' posts soon. Not belittleing the fun of these threads - love them. But take note of the experts guys and girls - they have more more information to hand than we do - and a lot more training.

I have to agree, Ian did say that the snow wouldnt be major, i have been forecasting it as about 2-5cm all week, as i thought there would be more rain and sleet then snow, I do also think that people on mm have this spot on, also including people here aswell, you will all see a spell of snow but i wouldnt expect to wake up to a Winter wonderland, Ian is normally right like last week and his views should be listened too and taken...HB

  4. .... and the reason for this is some further bands being pepped-up tonight by vorticity forcing aloft, over-running these convective elements as they sink south.... and so - it's likely UKMO will have to extend flash warnings for snow into Cornwall and Devon overnight (local accumulations here could reach 5-10cm).

NAE has a good handle on that convergence zone trailing SE to Pembrokeshire.

Incidentallly the broader (but mostly light) snow potential for Sunday morning across much of the eastern districts of the westcountry looks much enhanced on the new modified NAE frames. Worth keeping an eye on that one. The T+39 frame is attached.

I would include West Somerset in that for snow tonight...HB

At times, potentially. Already had snow showers in parts of the county tonight including south to Wellington.

Wellington have had a nice covering my sister lives there and said is all white..HB

  5. A mighty heavy snow shower was supposed to have gone over here not too long ago according to the radar but zilch in reality - clear skies continue and after a temporary rise in temperature, it's going down again. Oh well.

Hi people, that snow in Wales watch it Somerset could be on the end of it, would favour west somerset though at the moment...HB
