  1. Few flurries this side of Peterborough, looking at the MetO Invent looks like a big bad heading towads us, then looking at 12pm on same indent it curves completely round us!!!! Hahahaha Theres a law about that! Still fingers crossed for something substantial here.

EDIT: coming hard and fast here

  2. Hope you are all enjoying your snow

mostly clear sky here with the odd cloud floating past but not producing anything

    Temp -5.8c at the moment.

Think I will head to bed soon as this snow event is really not meant for the wisbech, downham, peterborough triangle lol

    Have fun all

aggressive.gif With you there Janet!! Everything just keeps splitting above us..... well tomorrow is another day and all that!! Perhaps I may get enough snow to atleast be able to throw 1 snowball!

  3. Befofe I shoot off I just want to explain whats happening to my fellow Peterborough members.

So far today due to the positioning of the LP system we have seen NW/N,ly flow. This means the snow showers have to travel along Lincs before reaching here. This is why many lose their intensity. However this afternoon/evening the LP system tracks SSW and as it does so our winds veer NNE/NE/ENE,ly. This means come this afternoon any showers will travel through the wash. This means the showers will be heavier due to less travel over land.

I actually think come later this afternoon into this evening we shall see an increase of snow shower activity. At the moment there is a distinct line of showers running from the wash to the N Sea. Keep an eye on this to see if it widens because later this may move into our region.

P.S Don't blame me if im wrong!

    Thanks TEITS, much appreciated :nonono:

  4. Don't think we are going to see anything much now, maybe the odd light shower but not enough for anything to settle. not a very good cold snap for snow lovers here.

I know TEITS still has hopes though.........

Tis nowing here now but agreed, dont think we will be seeing anything that will cause disruption or enable my kids to have a much yearned after snow day!

Oh well, there's always the day after tomorrow! Lol

    Edit: Stopped already !!!

  5. Sunny here in Peterborough. Have this funny feeling we are going to miss out altogether on decent snowfall during this cold spell. RANT OVER

Well hubby says if it keeps snowing down south that it may end up tipping the country downwards and we may get an avalanch from Scotland!! hahaha

Had a few small flurries in PE2 area of Peterborough this morning, just teasing me I think!!

Anyone able to shed some light on whether we will get snow later on today here in Peterborough?

    Thanks, Mrs F x

  6. Latest Fax for tomorrow.

I've been looking at the NAE, NMM and I actually think two bands are going to sweep S across the region. The first one in the morning and the second one during the evening.

Expecting snow showers in 10mins here.

Hats off to you TEITS, you said 10 mins, and Its coming down outside as I type (PE2 area)! Excellent forecasting!!!

Gotta love having a lampost outside!!! Off to bed to watch it falling from my bed.

  7. Just watched the latest News 24 forecast and im started to get excited. He said "E Midlands, Norfolk, Cambs" could get a good dumping of snow in the morning. Always reassuring to here E Midlands being mentioned because obviously its to my W.

Speaking of forecasts but a very strange one on Sky TV. No snow was mentioned for much of this region during Friday or Saturday. They concentrated the snow on Lincs, NE England and then said the snow would move into the Wash,Norfolk during saturday.

Personally I never take much notice of TV forecasts when convection is likely and find the forecasts on that particular day more reliable. However you don't need them then because of the radar!

Snow showers are getting more widespread around Lincs,Wash.

  8. Flash warning from Met office for NORFOLK

Heavy Snow 2251 Wed 6 0800 Thu 7 Sleet and snow showers are expected to give further accumulations of around 5cm overnight. This will fall onto frozen surfaces causing icy stretches on untreated surfaces. Some drifting and blowing snow is possible in strong winds.

The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advise on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.

Issued at: 2253 Wed 6 Jan

  9. Yes it does seem very localised due to the size of the showers.

Still some better news for tomorrow as the BBC indicated the snow hitting Norfolk & Peterborough before reaching London.

As for the rest of the week I shall take notice of my own advice. You never know what will develop in the N Sea and the models will never accurately predict this. Normally Peterborough does very well from a NE,ly. I suspect the models may increase the precip nearer the time.

Will look forward to tomorrow then, perhaps my boys will get thier long awaited snow day (poor things had to school during snow of December even though all the other kids in the street didnt!)

Looking at met office rain fall radar for Peterborough it looks like the weekend could do well at the minute.... but not holding my breath!

Struggling to settle here, a lot of swirling wind blowing it around.

  10. Strange as i've looked out the window and not a flake in the wind. Still it doesn't surprise me considering the size of Peterborough. My mother said it was snowing heavy in Wansford.

Possibly Im at the other end to you?? PE2 here, right next to A1 and A605.... I know it said on Hereward that it was snowing Paston & New England this morning yet nothing on my side of the city. Coming down thin and fast lol
