Unfortunately as others have said the ECM is not playing wit Yorkshire....we have been very unfortunate this winter. Thursdays storm looked like it had our name on it but how things have changed! Still time for corrections but I’m losing hope I’m afraid. The pic below is a projection for snowfall this Friday. Clear to see Yorkshire is like a desert amongst an oasis of snow! The N west and even the south are kicking are ass (lol)

Well i live in Hull well Hessle for last 11 years and we have havent done great since January 2013 were we had lying snow here for nearly two weeks. No one seems to mention Feb 2012 which was quite wintry for here maybe because it was sandwiched inbetween 2009/2010  snowfalls then the 2013 snowfalls. And wasnt the Cet for the first half of Feb 2012  sub zero. Im making it sound quite recent but was infact 7 years ago yikes.

Yes it's amazing how the west side can have snow and over in the east none!

Yep, I'm writing this winter off as close but no cigar. Bring on the longer and warmer days!

Evening all, rather quiet in here

i have to agree BA, long summer warm nights are my favourite - Autumn and winter months feel like they drag on forever and ever

with regards to this snow or no snow event - non of the models are consistent and the mad thread is literally bonkers as always! Grown ups bickering over will it or won't it snow in my backyard. Southerners moaning about the northerners and vice versa. BOOM and bust posts, good charts and bad charts - come on it's just the weather!!!

personally I love looking at falling snow, my garden looks as good as the neighbours for once.

Would I be happy with a 2010 repeat - hell yes

but life will go on either way

enjoy your week no matter what it brings, you never know what's around the corner

  4. Well looking outside today you could be fooled into thinking it was Spring. The sun has shone all day long and although it's chilly, it's given me hope that Spring will soon arrive. The little bit of snow we had has all but gone. Here's hoping I won't be back for Easter !

Have a good Spring/summer guys. See you all next winter

Hello all, just joined but been a lurker for a year or so. I'm in the sticks a couple miles north of Brigg in North Lincs.

We seemed to have missed most of the snow this winter, got nothing in December and only a light covering from Beast1, very poor compared to 2010 where we had 18" of snow on lawn for a month with overnight temps as low as minus 20.

Oddly we've seen more snow today than we have all winter, a steady stream of snow/graupel showers roughly 20 mins apart since 7am this morning. Sadly melting almost as soon as the sun re-appears but have been impressive to watch due to the very strong wind forming mini blizzards in the garden.

Hoping we get some laying snow overnight so the kids have a chance of sledging. We are in the amber warning area so fingers crossed for something tonight.

Welcome to the mad house lol

afternoon everyone hope your all enjoying the weekend

had snow showers here on and off all day but nothing to write about just yet!

It has just turned extremely dark and I am under a heavy shower at the minute, give it 5 and the sun will be out!

Similar here today. We reached the grand old total of 1cm last night before the showers stopped, but the wind has since stripped that to 0.5cm which has proceeded to disappear today despite being below freezing most of the day!

Looks like the wait continues for our area. 5 years and 2 months since we last had more than 1cm. The question you have to ask is, if an easterly this cold doesn't deliver then what would? I guess we'll have to hold out for a good northerly!

My thoughts entirely it's unbelievable. This is a text book perfect weather set up for us on the east coast, but yet we still don't get snow! This will go down in history for all the wrong reasons. Those showers on the radar have even moved backwards! I wonder why and I'd be interested to know. I wonder if John Holmes could shed some light on it as I don't think it's just down to bad look.
