Been snowing here all day on and off but not lying. Snow now lying so I guess the colder air has eventually reached here just north of Dundee.

There was a skiff of snow this morning over this side from a shower overnight and some graupel in the air at times this morning.
Same in Monikie. Enough to turn the grass white but that was about it.

Morning all. Not posted in a while but this coming week has got my attention. What a stunning outlook from the Met Office to wake up .can’t remember them being so blunt about a forecast for a long time.
I spent a bit of time last night making new snow depth sticks as couldn’t find the ones from 7 years ago. Nearly time to see if I made the scale high enough.....

Just back from the pub and the last shower was snow and left everything white. Encouraging that the showers are getting across to the east coast.

Just turned to snow here as well.

Snow staring to lie here now after a morning of sleet /wet snow.

Snowing here now though it looks like pretty wet stuff. Interesting that the showers are making it over the mountains to the north and getting down here though. Might bode well for later!

Yes, wild in St Andrews and very wild back in Crail according to my wife. Colleague has just said the Friarton Bridge is also closed?
Friarton closed to high sided vehicles. Open for cars as just went over it.

Interesting met office outlook. Not often your hear them mention risk of significant snow!

Probably about 1.5 inches overnight. I saw that the plough had made its first trip of the year along the road on my way to work.

Snow Monster it would seem we must be neighbours! After moving to Monikie last year we were warned by our new neighbours that the winters here are much worse than "down the hill" in Dundee. Result was the sum total of nothing last year! Typical....
Hi Munter. Yep I have seen some quality snow up here over the years. Used to live in the Ferry and drove up here for my snow fix whenever it was only sleet down there. Figured I might as well move here and it would save all those trips!

Just back from Dundee and the roads are white at the house. Nothing until above 500ft mind you. The move this year to the new house is proving worthwhile so far - had snow 3 days already this winter and none at the old house!

Afternoon all.
First post of the year after being busy moving house. Now a further 5 miles inland and another 400ft up so looking forward to this winter!
Saw the first geese last night when i got home from work. Seems early to me - anyone else seen any?

Yep very heavy in Dundee right now. Hard to gauge depth from the window as its all blowing about but main road thick with snow.

The updated Met Office warnings look as though they have been downgraded now talking about accumulations only above 200m.

New warning out from Met Office for Thursday!

The term PJO refers to the Polar-Night Jet Oscillation - Yuhji Korada provides an explanation here on page 1 of his paper.
