  1. The block to hold until Mid-March . Cold days and very cold nights will make the CET for Feb 1.1C::)
  2. Has not gone much above freezing today in Biggin Hill. currently just below freezing-Heavy frost expected tonight then some snow over high ground (Thurs/Friday ) and beyond could be very exciting.
  3. By Saturday Berlin will be -10c Warsaw -16c Moscow -23c St Petersburg -26c -Probably the coldest max temps of the winter-something is brewing and in the next couple of days the models will show that cold air cant be bottled up . We might get a a Jan 87 or Feb 91 as Europe gets even colder who knows . A trend has been picked up and it may well take a few days longer than expected to get here. The best winter for years and I love reading the experts posts . The trouble is we are so used to the default winter we cant possibly believe a colder spell could be on its way.
  4. Give me cold crisp snowy days over the mild mush we are about to receive. Biggin Hill kept its snow cover for a lot longer than surrounding areas and temps were close to freezing and below for more than ten days. Looking outside at midnight with everything white and bright is lovely. Today is horrible with a damp heavy fog and melting snow . Nothing to beat snow falling and if this cold spell was to be replaced by dry cold and crisp sunny days then Im all for it but I'm afraid its going to be mild rainy mush that is not enjoyable to walk in especially over muddy fields. The only concillation is that I will be able to play my club winter tennis again although our astro turf courts are brilliant on a heavy frost. My wife son and daughter can get about safely is a massive plus but driving in snow has been a learning curve for them. .
  5. According to BBC -its below freezing at -1c in Bromley at the moment so this is going to be a freezing day which is surprising . Colder tonight should make the snow thats lying just a little bit drier. Tuesday/Wed could be interesting. Very slow thaw which means any snow left might last until the next cold plunge:whistling:
  6. Bromley is below freezing -nearly (-1c) Bexley should be the same -highest today just a fraction above freezing for a very short time.
  7. Central London is probably the City and West End - =The further away from the heat island the better although if the easterly really picks up and digs in then any marginality gets canceled. Away from the coasts -inland even the city should have a good snow covering- suburbs even better
  8. This cold spell -the snow has been very localised.-Warlingham Biggin Hill has about 7ins whilst Keston West Wickham has 3-4 ins Bromley probable 1.5ins at best which is disappointing. South East London has just been on the edge of the heavier falls but maybe by Tuesday all the SE should have about 6 ins of snow except Central London. The Downs 20 miles from London always do very well from this setup:drinks:
  9. Very strange weather forecast from BBC this morning which had the snow for the weekend mostly SW/Wales -Graphics were surely wrong as Sky are going for a more Easterly event and is backed up by most on Netweather. Next week is going to be a roller coaster as the models will try and break down the cold but dont be surprised if this is the default mode and the cold reloads . This is based purely on my experience of past cold winters. That cold block over Europe is going to take a lot of shifting and I still think there is even colder weather to come. Over the last four weeks on the Kent/Surrey North Downs - a max of 6.5c for one day only just after Christmas the other days have been not much above freezing. The snow depth is still about 7ins which has helped keep the max down. Below freezing for 4 days now according to my weather station..
  10. Cold wind really set in now and today Bromley has an Ice Day. Snow was heavy for a short while in Biggin Hill this morning which now has about 8ins of snow. Anyone else from the North Downs just interested to hear what they think of the conditions as surrounding areas do not have anywhere near that amount.
