Is this going to be better than the feb 96 event, how much am I likely to see in blackburn, im working tonight in padiham so hoping i can get home in the morning.

True, the Grane Road is usually closed by snow in most winters and has already on a couple of occasions this time around.
It's not incredibly high ASL (only about 1250 - 1300 feet at the most but it keeps the altitude for a considerable distance and can certainly be bleak in winter.
My brother lives up belthorn and the other friday when it snowed there was 4 foot drifts up there

Way off topic guys, but just asking this as im waiting to start my new job in france, it just all depends on the weather, im a paintsprayer and basically its a waiting game until they get hailstorms which could be anytime, are we looking at anyting stormy in the next few weeks, hopefully i wont have to wait to long.

The huge low that is shown in the atlantic, would it ever be possible to have one that deep coming from the east in winter, or is only the west because of the moisture over the atlantic

This is a blizzard by preston standards. A few flakes floating around in the wind. We may get a mm if this keeps up all night.
Cant see the upgrade for tomorrow in any of the forecasts IMBY meto no snow - bbc no snow ....... looks like the dandruff from tonight will be it.

It just goes to show from as little as 6 hours ago how things can change my advice dont take the models and charts as gospel, they are just guessing like all of us

The Itv news reader just now, has done an upgrade! up to 30cm for SW, Midlands, South and Northwest lol. The band actually looks to stall on the GFS 12z and then rotate north.

The streamer we had in 2010 was that forecast or predicted, or did it just come out of nowhere.
