Why are the met still showing scotland in the snow tomorrow if its all going south and east?
-
Saw this in the welsh thread
200 m + snow lol
-
If the MetO have called this right then it's a non event for Lancs northwards. The next system due early next week looks like it could well take the same track, so a dry, grey and boring seven days for the North of the region could be very much on the cards.
But theres always the chance theyve got it wrong and it stays on track like yesterday
-
hows it looking for blackburn
-
Is this ahem "event" the precip that is currently starting to move in over the far West of Southern Ireland?
It is yes
-
...based on what......
gut feeling
and alot of prayers today to the snow gods

First time ive checked since yesterday, and it now looks like we aint going to get much, however i think it will all change again to our benefit
-
Liam how would you rate my analysis from earlier
-
Think your being a tad too optimistic with regards to actual snow depth for the lower ground but otherwise I agree with you. A potentially golden moment coming up for us through the next few days!
possibly but i honestly dont think il be far off the mark, we will all find out in a few days, but its looking brill for us all

This might sound abit OTT, but this is the way i see things, we have fronts trying to push in from the west, which will not make any significant inroads into our cold block to our east. This event coming up on friday reminds me of the feb 96 event when we all got sent home from school, I was 14 at the time and can honestly say ive never seen as much snow as that before, we easily had over 30 cms at a relatively lowish level, so i think the depths of snow being predicted thus far will be way out.
I predict low lying areas will get between 25 and 40 cms quite easily and maybe more.
The tops of the hills, pennine areas, I wouldnt be surprised to see anything between 50 and 70 cms
Plus once the main band has come through, there is always the chance of streamers setting up almost anywhere like 2010 which could add a heck of alot more snow, its going to be absolutely fascinating for sure.

Just watching the forecast on bbc, it looks great for all of us, I just want them to lose the word "risk"
-
Sadly I think Old Trafford has under soil heating so no chance for freezing over!!
Think it will be called off for safety reasons, I can see alot of games being called off tomorrow even before it has started snowing

I work nights in padiham its about a 5 mile journey from my house usually set off 9pm, ive a feeling i aint going to be getting there, also isnt it always strange how these sort of major events crop up, like on the 50th anniversaryof the 62/63 winter
-
Im confused are we all going to get heavy snow here in the northwest or just parts of the region, im in blackburn, what should i expect on friday and saturday
-
I wouldnt worry to much about what the GFS is showing at present, it will all change GFS = Good For Snow
-
could we all be surprised and get a real dumping like we did in december 10
-
Liam im in blackburn, about 30 miles from the coast, 100m asl everytime we get forecast snow its always sleet or rain, how do you rate my chances here.

Look at the radar to the east of cheltenham.I would not like to be under that looks mega intense

Reports on the news of a mosque in Birmingham loosing it's roof, surely it would have to be gusting well over 70mph for that to happen. Here the winds are definitely building and the gusts are gradually becomming more frequent at approx 45mph.
lol

Let's just hope that it turn out like a Fernando Torres run at goal: He's through, he's round the keeper - and it sails into Row 18Z!
lol

Is it usual to get squalls this late in the year?.I remember the last one which was early september and was quite scary at the time as I was walking home and the winds just came out of nowhere, it only lasted a few minutes but felt much longer.
-
Its looking like alot of people are in for a nasty shock with the weather tomorrow.
-

-
Look at the chart at 168 hours showing a 924mb low and widespread blizzards.
