  1. Snowing lightly here this evening. Though I should probably mention I’m at Glenmore Lodge and not Pittenweem
  2. Exactly what I was thinking when I was walking the pup earlier. I suppose there’s only 2 days to go until meteorological spring! Sunny skies, light winds, 8c.
  3. Here are my embarrassing contributions. A thin covering on the ploughed fields 1/4 mile from the sea but nothing lying on the immediate coast. Classic East Neuk ‘snow’
  4. Morning all, Some nice photos. Some wet snow here this morning and a little slushy covering on grass and cars but at 1.8c and 95% humidity the wet baws aren’t cold enough. Will be a different story a couple of miles inland.
  5. Just checked Inverness and it’s reading 86% so assuming you’re not too much higher you should be good to go. It’s 4c bang on with 90% humidity here for a wet bulb of 3c so we’ve still got a way to go…
  6. Afternoon all, a windy start to the day with gales along the coast and gusting to 60mph. Temperature well up at 9c/4c.
  7. Relax @Kirkcaldy Weather I’m not covered by the warning either, it neatly skirts the East Neuk coast. In any case I wouldn’t want anything getting in the way of me recording another snowless winter to add to the collection!
  8. Aye those wet baws at it again. Troublemakers... We got up to 5c here this morning but dropped back to 3c now. Still to see a flake of snow though!
  9. Good to see some get snow! Foul here in the East Neuk, wet and windy. Temp 3.4c/2.8c.
  10. Pah, sleetfest for me - you'll be out with your sledge as usual
  11. Wind has died right down here just as the warning kicks in: Leuchars was reporting 36mph mean speed a couple of hours ago - now 17mph. 9c/6c. As for Friday, as others have mentioned I wouldn't be betting against a southward correction. But regardless I would be amazed to see accumulating snow in coastal NE Fife - onshore flow will likely raise temperatures as usual. Could be game on for those further west and with a little altitude though. Hoping @Kirkcaldy Weather proves me wrong!
  12. Afternoon all, dull and dreich in the East Neuk, currently 6c. Was up walking in Glen Tilt yesterday. I wasn’t surprised by the lack of snow on the surrounding hills. I remember 1988/89 too, living in Glasgow. It was grim.
  13. Morning all, Frosty start with a minimum of -1.4c overnight which is the coldest reading of the winter here and one of only a handful of air frosts. -4c currently down the road at Leuchars which again is the coldest reading this winter.
  14. Morning all, cloudy, breezy, 3.2c. This time last year we were enjoy that rarity: a coastal East Neuk snowfall. Nice to see some photos of the white stuff this morning: as forecast looks like some elevation required!
  15. Good to see some snow photos they’ve been at a premium this winter! Sunny skies here now, we had a light rain shower earlier. 3c/1c.
  16. Yep wet baws must be the wrong side of zero! If anyone wants to do some calculating this is helpful: Wet Bulb Calculator WWW.OMNICALCULATOR.COM With humidity and temperature you can find out the value of the wet-bulb temperature, and if it's any different from the normal air temperature. Its not particularly cold here (4c/1c) but feels that way compared to recent weeks, and nice to have sunny skies. It does look like more traditional winter weather in the coming week with snow a definite feature on higher ground.
  17. Morning all, Unfortunately I have to drive through to Glasgow today. Pretty wild out there gusting 61mph at Leuchars so it will be higher down the coast. Tay Bridge closed to all traffic. Locally, not as bad as Arwen yet. I see 120mph gusts on the Cairnwell and 147mph on Cairngorm. I sincerely hope no one is out in that.
  18. Yes that’s certainly true for us coasties (and nice to see you back HC). There are now at least some signs of a change as high pressure retreats southwards by midweek, allowing more unsettled weather. Some colder 850s too so the prospect of snow on the hills!
  19. Very similar numbers here. It’s been a mild but not spectacularly mild month. Mean currently running 1.5c above average at Leuchars. It may not be exciting but as others have noted the sunshine has been welcome at this time of year!
  20. Yes I’m reminded of winters gone by when high pressure would float nearby but never in any useful position. I try to take an ‘all weather is interesting’ approach but that’s a challenge with the current set up. We did see some sun today so that was welcome. Temperature reached 10c at Leuchars.
  21. Totally nondescript would describe the weekend here. A bit of rain, mostly cloudy, neither mild nor cold, not much in the way of wind. Overnight ground frost but air temperatures have stayed in the 1c to 6c range throughout.
  22. Back in Fife after a journey down the A9. Very snowy between southern outskirts of Inverness down to Aviemore with progressively less snow as you headed south from there, just a dusting at Blair Atholl. Functional photo of Aviemore
  23. Snow showers here at Muir of Ord but with no altitude (30m) it’s wet underfoot for now with snow accumulating on grass, cars, bins etc. Temperature 1c. The old wet baw conundrum!
