  1. Some big flakes in Thornaby but pretty light snow. Seems to be thawing more than it's laying.
  2. To much was made out for the coldest spell in two years. It's not difficult for it to happen when you look back at the last couple of winters. And it does say coldest, not snowiest.
  3. So as I was saying, no lying snow around the Teesside area?
  4. Well I'm sorry but it doesn't come clearly over the internet sometimes, especially when people do lie.
  5. Thing is it usually does matter for low lying areas. Snow falling is pretty for the first 5 minutes, but pretty pointless if it's not laying, that's my opinion anyway.
  6. Of course they are, usually hinting at worst case scenario as they are in fact warnings to warn people. Of course anything can happen in the world of weather so I might wake up to lying snow, but then I also might win the lottery on Saturday too. It's pretty doubtful low lying areas in the Teesside area will have lying snow by tomorrow, the setup just isn't good enough for it.
  7. Trust me. It's very unlikely low lying areas around Teesside will have any lying snow tonight/tomorrow. Even the warning isn't that good. States it will bring rain to many areas but later there is a RISK of it turning to snow. It's not about faith, it's about knowing the area and what weather it receives.
  8. Snow might be likely, we had snow/sleet this morning. It's pretty doubtful it will lay in low lying areas that is the problem. Like most times in these situations it will either be sleet/rain or snow but to wet to lay.
  9. We've already had falling snow/sleet this morning. It's not that I'm talking about. Here in Thornaby and some surrounding areas, you have to have some extreme circumstances to see any decent lying snow other than a sugar dusting.
  10. I pretty much doubt it, certainly not Thornaby.
  11. The snow in Thornaby isn't laying and is just making the ground wet which in turn will then spoil the snow later on, typical really.
  12. One thing I know for certain (not that I do haha) is that this will probably be a rain/none event for Thornaby. I also can never get excited about a snow event that will turn to rain.
  13. I know some people have done extremely well out of this, but it just goes to show how bad and rare an event of Nov/Dec 2010 really was. Thornaby had plenty of snow back then, 10-12". Now, we have nothing. Pathetic attempt at winter so far for my area.
  14. Thornaby did amazing in the November/December 2010 spell. Even I was amazed by it. We even had thunder snow. Just every other time we miss out.
  15. Not very good in Thornaby. When it gets chance to lay, it melts soon after, hardly anything in Thornaby on the ground.
  16. Some of the snow flakes have been huge in Thornaby
  17. I'm going to watch England v Australia in the cricket at Durham tomorrow. Could anyone tell me what the weather will be like around that area for tomorrow please? I've heard it is supposed to be bad tonight, but as the band pushes past after midnight, tomorrow should be fine?
  18. Haha, I think he was being sarcastic, but yes, I can confirm it
  19. So I'll admit I was wrong and glady so, it's snowing, but not amounting to much, yet.
  20. North East England. Also you wouldn't be in Yorkshire, you would be in North Yorkshire.
  21. What's likely is very miminal lying snow and sleet. I'll come back tomorrow and admit I'm wrong and I hope I am wrong.
