  1. Sky news saying another big sink hole in hemel hemstead, homes evacuated, why so many?

    Police are currently in attendance in Oatridge Gardens, Hemel Hempstead after receiving a report of a sink hole appearing in the road at 7.30am today (Saturday, February 15).

     

    The hole, which is in a residential cul de sac, has mainly affected the road. However, seventeen properties have been evacuated for the safety of residents in the area.

     

    The hole is approximately 35ft wide and 20ft deep.

     

    Police are working with partner agencies, including Dacorum Borough Council, specialist structural engineers and utilities companies to assess the situation.  The road, and surrounding roads, have been closed for the safety of residents and whilst agencies work at the scene.

  3. Picked up here quite a bit in the last 20 minutes or so.

     

    Not liking the look of this chart at all to be honest.

     

    Its really starting to kick off, Wind guts picking up now. We are a couple of hours away from the strongest gusts, Which will last a while through the early hours. UK power network apparently claiming power outages for our region possible. Stay safe all.

Lets face it James...You know "JACK".,Now your trying to avoid your complete preliminary forecast back dated 9 months ago, As we should be buried in snow and experiencing blizzards.   5. Peak gusts 9pm to midnight looking at models, though could start later than 9pm looking at observations which show strongest gusts still to transfer from the SW of England (or east of the Isle of Wight).

     

     

    Nick, As a senior forecaster any thoughts on "pardon the pun" whether this is it for these storms or is this quieter spell a temporary lull. Must be a forecasters nightmare at the moment.
