  1. No new snow here today (unless there was some before dawn) and there's a steady thaw with lots and lots of dripping. However, that's a lot less dismal when there's sunshine and blue skies as we have here right now! 2.7 °C as things stand, after a minimum last night of -2.2 °C.
  2. Still snowing here1 Not that hard now, and it does seem a tad slushy so we'll need some colder air pretty much immediately behind to keep it. But currently it's 0.7 °C in Bewdley.
  3. Coming down nicely here in NW Worcs. Road is white now. I'd guess maybe 1 cm cover at the moment. Looking at the radar, possibly another cm to come before this feature is through. What a contrast to a year ago -- then we couldn't buy a flake, now it seems there's interest almost every week! (Watch there be no snow at all for the rest of the winter now I've said that...)
  4. Well, that was an anticlimax! Just after I last posted, the temperature fell to 1 °C and it started snowing. After 4-5 minutes, it stopped snowing. Now back up above 2 °C and very light rain. Thrilling stuff.
  5. Currently 2.5 °C here in Bewdley with heavy cold rain. Can't see anything but rain; looks like altitude is against me for the moment. Whether it'll turn down here at 90m, we'll see soon!
  6. Felt like another world out for my walk this morning. Significantly milder, a decent amount of sunshine, not too much wind. Max 9.0 °C, but it almost seemed like 5 degrees warmer than that given how long it's been cold and grey. Shame it looks like not lasting beyond maybe tomorrow morning.
  7. Oi, I'm not putting up with grey gunk for the whole of lockdown, thank you very much! Cold and sunny will do me fine as well. Or snow, of course, though there's not exactly much chance of that in Worcs for the near future.
  8. Yet another grotty day in Bewdley today. A stupendous maximum of 1.9 °C. Currently -0.2 °C. Grey and gloomy and cold throughout, not a glimmer of sunshine anywhere to be seen. Frankly I don't care much about snow in this area at the moment, I just want sunshine. If it's 12 °C too then that'll be fine by me! Of course, good luck to those who do really want snow and have a chance of seeing it over to the east.
  9. To be honest even steady moderate rain would be at least slightly more interesting than the grey, dreary, gloomy muck we had pretty much all day here on Wednesday. About 10 °C at its mildest, but it honestly made no difference at all to be in double figures. Visibility was terrible, I couldn't see the hills across the valley, only a few miles away, and that's quite rare except when it's actually foggy (or snowing!). An utterly forgettable day.
  10. Sleety snow coming down in Bewdley now. Not settling and very wet stuff, but I'm actually losing count of the number of snowfalls in this spell! Must be half a dozen now, if you count the very light ones.
  11. Had a thin covering of snow tonight from very small flakes. Maybe 1 cm at the most. Thursday was an ice day! (I use calendar days.) Max was -0.6 °C. It's now a whole tenth warmer than that! I don't expect anything better than sleet from any showers tonight as I suspect it'll be the wrong side of marginal here with only 90m altitude.
  12. Currently -3 °C here with freezing fog, although it's finally thinning and the sun sort-of breaks through occasionally. Min last night was -5.0 °C, which isn't bad! Might be an ice day if it doesn't properly lift in the next hour or two.
  13. Big flakes now, real 50p stuff! Will obviously not last long when it stops, but it's very nice to look at for now. Incredible to think that this one shower alone is better than the whole of the 2019/20 winter for snow here!
  14. Been snowing lightly here for almost 2 hours now. Hasn't amounted to more than a dusting and the thin covering on the roads will doubtless melt as soon as it stops as it's up to 1.3 °C even with a few flakes still coming down, but a nice unexpected bonus!
  15. Not here. Right now it's light drizzle at 0.8 °C here in N Worcs. You're missing very little as far as this area is concerned!
  16. Snowing now in Bewdley. Seems a tad too sleety and light to settle (0.8 °C btw) and the radar doesn't suggest it'll last that long. Still, hard to complain about the last few days! By Midlands standards this is fantastic, surely the best snowy spell here since the epic December 2017.
  17. Very similar here as you'd expect. Wandered out of town a little way earlier in the afternoon, and though the roads are now mostly clear with not much snow, the verges are still covered and the hillsides are still white. 3 °C as I type and no sun, so only thawing slowly.
  18. Didn't quite manage an ice day today, which was mildly irritating (max +0.5 °C) but nevertheless a very nice day to be out walking given the sunshine and lack of wind. Temperature now down to -3.4 °C. It has -4.6 °C to beat from last night to become the lowest of the winter so far, but I suspect we won't quite get there as mist and then cloud may well stop things getting much colder later in the night despite the continuing partial snow cover.
  19. I went out for a walk a few minutes ago and I was just thinking that, though I didn't quite put the snow to one side. Sunshine on snow is probably my absolute favourite weather-related scene, and with the crisp cold air (still only just above freezing) it was actually very refreshing. It gave me a real tonic to think that, yes it's a little thing, but here at the very end of 2020 is something that's gone right this year.
  20. Quick pic of the fields near me; as you can see, still pretty white even in the sun. That snowman is quite impressive, about two metres tall, but there was a guy and his kids near it so I couldn't get too close.
  21. No new snow here in N Worcs, but the fields near me look very similar to those, and snowmen are holding up well. Glorious sunshine here but still -2 °C; a fantastic morning for a walk as long as you watch your step, as there's a lot of ice around! Unsurprisingly given the snow cover, last night was the coldest of the winter so far here at -4.6 °C.
  22. Snowing again here, albeit lightly. Goes rather sleety when it's light but certainly snow when it's heavier. Very very icy underfoot - my neighbour has just set off in his car at about 15 mph, and he's normally quite a fast driver!
  23. It's been a good day here. Thanks to all the 2020 stuff(TM) I haven't been following weather as closely as I would most winters, so today had the tinge of an old-fashioned surprise snowfall about it, the kind of thing I remember as a kid in the 1980s. Maxed out at 1.6 °C in the end and it's now starting to fall away again. All melted now under trees etc, but still a good few cm lying on exposed pavements and lawns, car roofs etc. If it clears tonight then tomorrow morning will be a real ice hazard around here. Very pleased with what I've had here today, so more than happy for the next one to give folks in the East Midlands something to cheer!
