  1. Very Dull but very Mild here in town....I cant stand this in between weather.....will it ever get cold again?
  2. Pretty much normal October fare in the city.....
  3. Squally shower just passing through central London....quite breezy but nothing major
  4. To put this to bed as I really CBA to go on and on about it. The graphic all week has been showing light rain and the texts have been changing to reflect what the actual models suggest but the graphic stayed the same. Why have the graphic if you aren't going to update it when you update the text? The Met O app on my phone has no text, only graphics, that also shows light rain (or did until recently). If that's all people have access to then they make plans based on the information presented. Light rain....great go out, meet friends,......Get struck by lightening and hit by hail that wasn't forecast on my app.....lovely Melodramatic, maybe, over the top? For sure, but my point is valid. Agree or not, I'm not bothered either way and I'm not trying to convince anyone that I'm right or wrong but I'm allowed my opinion just as you are allowed yours.
  5. I don't disagree in the slightest. I know how difficult it is to accurately forecast storms, snow and all the rest, but my point wasn't about that, it was that if they have a map to show what the upcoming weather is doing, and they have the text to better explain that weather, then the 2 should match and not be completely different. That's as much use a chocolate tea pot
  6. And that's fair enough mate, I would like to think that after 5 or so years on this forum that I can call some of you friends. Virtual or not, it really doesn't matter in this day and age and I spend more time talking to some of you than I do with my "real" friends. Everyone is allowed an opinion be it right or wrong and they shouldn't be chastised for expressing it. For me personally, I think that the Met have been under performing in their assessment of the models and have not been very accurate. That's my opinion, if you think I'm wrong, then fine, and please feel free to tell me, but I'm 40 years old not a child and I do not need to be spoken to like that and if that's acceptable then I'm definitely in the wrong place as NW never used to be like that. I can understand why so many of our other friends leave for other forums. The 5 day forecast consistently showed light rain for my precise area for last night. All I was stating in my original post was that's completely useless. Which to be fair, is fact, it is and was useless and wrong. No I didn't read the text, but then if they are going to update the text to reflect the current forecast then why don't they update the map which I use for a quick look at what they think is coming. The fact that thus far I have 9 respect or likes or what ever the points are below my post and the other post has none makes me feel a little ratified in my opinion of the response I received so thank you all for that. Rant over.....moving on, Pup is panting all over the place bless him, I'm putting him into a nice cool bath later, poor little thing.
  7. Not being funny the Met don't have ANY lightening symbols for our whole area for any time in the warning period. Completely useless. Don't they realise that Joe public use them to find out what's going on?? Not everyone is fortunate enough to belong to NW....really annoys me
  8. I'm not......don't trust them as far as I can throw them and with my bad knee I shouldn't be throwing anyone. Seriously, though, they need to rethink how they model their forecasts as they have been going downhill fast. I was just making people aware a warning had been issued, although I think about 4 of us hit the "post" button at the same time
  9. Several areas of heavy, thundery showers will develop over England and Wales from Friday night before moving northwards during Saturday. Not everywhere within the warning area will see thunderstorms, and indeed some spells of warm sunshine are expected at times, but where thunderstorms do form, some torrential downpours are likely with frequent lightning, large hail and locally strong gusts. Significant flooding is possible where these do occur from surface water as well as from small, fast-responding watercourses. The public should be prepared for the risk of disruption from any of these elements. The very warm and humid airmass across the UK will become increasingly unstable on Friday night and through Saturday. This will lead to the development of areas of intense thunderstorms, these moving northwards across the UK and affecting different areas at various times through the day. In this situation, large amounts of energy are available in the atmosphere and this, coupled with high moisture content, can lead to torrential downpours along with frequent lightning activity, large hail and locally strong gusts. As is usually the case with thunderstorms, broad areas can be identified as at risk some time in advance but detail will remain very uncertain until very close to the event. Some areas will miss the worst of the storms whilst nearby spots experience severe downpours with some localised flooding, so the public are advised stay in touch with the latest forecasts and warnings through Saturday.

  12. Are we still due to get storms over night tonight and into tomorrow or is this event happening earlier than first thought?
  13. That was the one that woke me up. Thank god it did.... Amazing storm last night. Woken at 2.40 by constant flashes, a lot of it was skirting around me but made for some amazing forks in the sky. Seriously, if that wasn't the main event, then tonight might deliver something really memorable

  20. The Met office are saying just light showers for my area......why? Is it that they don't know where the storms are going to hit? What does everyone think as looking at the mods the cape is massive over us for Friday night into Saturday
