Thundersnow in South East Sheffield, 4 flashes of lightning with thunder.. Excellent

Although it's not been a particularly cold/memorable winter so far.. ?
It sort of feels weird, not to look at the incoming band of rain at the moment - and try not to work out the ( dewpoint/850s/height ) etc.. for snow to fall.
Never seem too have an intensity issue, when it's plain old rain that falls

What a Fab morning so far. Temperature around -4'c with light/moderate snow & a good 3" layer on the ground.
Radar looks good for here till midday at least ?

Will keep the faith haha, happy to see our slight covering isnt going anywhere and my car actually has icicles on it ?
Looks good for the next 60 - 90 mins.
All the false promises of the last 2 days, has suddenly decided to right itself ?️
We know that the weather isn't the end of world - but - it's almost the end of winter ( so are now desperate for a little bit of disruption ).
Hope this evening.. Delivers ?

After 36 hrs of ' The Beast ' being more like a Kitten..
This afternoon has been awesome & with a radar grab @ 7pm being as good as it is ?️?
Southeast Sheffield has at least 4 showers incoming ? So possibly another inch on a late winter ' icy night '.. ( Crack open another beer ) ?

think i would rather have continuous snow or nothing, rather than these showers
They come and look great then done in 5 mins and all melting away, its frustrating to say the least
Should change in the next hour as the sun drops.
Big showers incoming ?️

That clump south of the humber has South Yorkshires names on it. The best shower yet incoming
Hope so ? Bit of a gap behind it, looking on Sat 24..
Fingers crossed for a rapid drop in temps near sunset ??

2nd heavy shower in the last 45 mins in Southeast Sheffield. Keep em coming ?
-
Watching the radar loop from midday, definitely shows that the intensity is increasing in the showers.
Time needs to get to 5 - 5.30 pm when the sun goes down, to get a base layer nice and hard ready for any overnight falls ?
-
Absolutely chucked it down for the last 15 minutes here, grass gone ' Minty white ' again. Although the sunshine between these showers, will get to work quickly I'm sure.

Moderate burst of rain over South/East Sheffield. Been raining for over 2 hrs now, useable & at a good time of the day.

Lovely mammatus above Sheffield cathedral, just a sham we miss out on the Chesterfield/Dronfield storm

Keeping an eye on the cluster of showers, heading south from Scotland.
Could be the last temporary covering for us mere lower lying mortals, this winter.
-
Liam Dutton on twitter, commenting that low pressure's next week - taking a more southerly track & with increased moisture available ? ( Enhanced snow risk ) ?

Various met office warnings out, until Monday. Interesting times ahead for this region, especially high ground on sunday..

Is there a particular trough, that is bringing the ' true Arctic air ' down tomorrow ? Or a gradual filtering process as the day progresses ? Thanks In advance guys..
-
Are the showers to our west going to make it across the region & be of Snow OR a sleety mix ?
-
Snowing light - moderate here in southeast Sheffield. Started off as ice pellets, 20p size flakes now though.. A nice fresh dusting which will freeze solid by morning !
