  1. Yep - big flash of lightening and then loud thunder about 5 seconds after
  2. Getting a bit heavier here in Marple (east Stockport) but still light. Don't know whether this is the band coming up from the SE or possible Humber streamer mentioned by Kev (would do well to get all the way across the Pennines!)
  3. Started here in Hollingworth(nr Glossop) - grey heavy clouds and quite windy
  4. Snowing mild/moderately up here in the foothills of Glossop
  5. I don't often post here but the above just makes no sense and goes against the verification stats posted by SK. Also, i really don't see how the UKMO has changed toward the GFS when it's showing an undercut and poissibly blizzards next weekend! Help, or is it a case of using the ignore button!
  6. Starting here in Stockport - v fine. Think it's a bit early yet to decide how it's going to go? Hopefully front may stall a bit over us
  7. Whilst i agree to an extent that this is the model output discussion thread and so it's fair game to discuss the models it certainly does nothing for alot of peoples blood pressures and stress levels! Think as has been mentioned previously on numerous occasions the models will change quite wildly the further we go into FI. The anomoly charts are much less volatile and for a really balanced view as ever, would suggest everyone reads John's pdf. The GFS can be the most volatile in FI and we all know it's desire to wind up large lows in the Atlantic. As for it being a trend setter isn't it bound to be as it produces 2x as many runs as the other models? - less of a trend(perhaps apart from northerlies) and more due to more outcomes each day? Simon
  8. First post in this thread so please be gentle! The NCEP chart posted above by Daniel doesn't appear to show a sinker and this goes into early December. Think as has previously been suggested by John et al these are probably better tools to use at this range?
  9. Just driven through Hyde (east Manchester) and had the mother of all hails storms - decent sized hail stones which covered the paths and roads.According to car temp dropped to 3C
  10. Been snizzle for last few hours but last 10 mins heavier and bigger flakes - looks like may get some more looking at radar and reports from north of m/cr
  11. Starting snowing here in Marple(east Stockport) 30 mins ago - on and off but some quite big flakes and starting to cover surfaces.Hope the cold front helps the rain turn to snow for those in the west
  12. hail/sleet and a little snow now nr glossop - sky v dark - radar looks like more to come
  13. Moderatley heavy but short snow shower here near Glossop - still trying though.Nothing sticking at our height at the moment
  14. Hi All - Been a lurker for a few years. Love this forum when we start to get some interesting weather. Just had a sleety shower here in east Stockport, hopefully more to come tonight.Temp 2.2C. Backtrack you're a star, your enthusiasm and humour are much appreciated.
