  1. The Little corner of south east Kent must be catching the remains of the truly hot air over France. Its wafting over the 20 odd miles of sea on the south east wind. Thats my take on it anyway. I dont think the temperatures would be anything like so high on the coastal strip otherwise, with a fresh wind off the sea. Inland to the north west its more of a home grown heat if that makes sense.
  2. Yep deffo got to 30c Must be the warmest day in years for these parts.
  3. Right, Langdon reached 27c at 2pm, so im claiming a 30c here. at my lower and more inland location. Not bad when theres an onshore wind. My thermometer in shade is showing 33.5C which must be bullspit, so im ignoring now.
  4. When Langdon Bay coastguard station, situated on an exposed cliff top 120 metres up reaches 26C at 1pm, you know its a hot one elsewhere. That place has a climate of its own, and is usually always a few degrees cooler than nearby places like Dover, Deal and Folkestone. As for London and North west Kent - well 10C less happens now and then (in summer)
  5. My shade temp is reading 32C about two miles inland from the channel coast. Its in a fairly enclosed garden, so im going to knock 3.5 degrees off that and call it 28.5C . There`s a brisk but very warm wind off the nearby continent.
  6. I think Gravesend will top the table. Statistically I believe its the hottest place in UK in summer (daytime anyway). With a southerly drift it will get a foehn effect from the north downs, and all the concrete in the area boosts the temperature.
  7. Was a perfect clear afternoon here on the sunshine coast. Temperature hit 21 celcius. Just right for the gardening and couple of beers after.
  8. I saw it in Folkestone just before the rain stopped. Scuddy ragged black clouds kind of spinning around each otherat approx 100 metres altitude. Never seen that before.
  9. Mind you, when I look at the BBC website the predicted rainfall chart for 10 am (12 mins ago) is massively wrong already. Its got Northern France peppered with heavy rain. In reality, theres a storm over Rennes and thats about it.
  10. It was raining hard just now, and thunder is fairly close, but it doesnt count as a storm hit.
  11. Its daylight and the light should be coming from the south east, but that goliath storm cloud is blocking out the sun utterly. therefore the light is all coming in from the west, making it look like late afternoon. This is probably only the case in east kent. Anyone else notice this?
  12. Call it what you want. Its sliding away towards Belgium and Holland, like the others have done.
  13. Well Im still here peeps. We are all under the cloud canopy from that huge thing over france. Locally ive got large spots of rain still, and contant distant thunder. The thunder is not from the beast, its from the train of showers that have been moving northeast up the channel all night.
  14. Ive got a wonderful view from my hillside location and I can see lightning behind Dungeness. It might hit Rye or New Romney. (The Storm that is)
  15. That little stream of thundery showers is getting going again. Looks like its meaning business this time for Rye to Dover.
  16. What a monster that MCS over France is. Its only just cleared Bordeaux, but its cloud plume has already reached East Sussex
  17. If anyone is awake in Deal or Walmer/Kingsdown, they should be getting a very good light show and quite loud thunder.I can still see it flashing away round the corner in Folkestone.
  18. I know im talking to myself, as its stupid oclock, but the little storm over the straits is now quite severe, and may even make landfall at st Margarets Bay or Kingsdown.
  19. Its a perfect summer night. Temperature holding up at about 20 celcius, moon shining through a sheet of altocumulus, and lightning over the sea.( and cider)
  20. Exactly. That bad storm on Monday night started over the sea, not over France.
