Hoping for a good downpour now to wash away the wind blown salt from my windows. Can barely see through them. So I need a fencing company to replace a concrete post and two panels and a roofer to repair damage left from Arwen (no end of offers but just as many no shows from roofers )

A Qatar 777 is giving it a go at the moment.
Have managed to get absolutely no sleep despite sleeping in the spare bedroom which is the other side of the house from the wind. The constant roar and creaking of the house and trees and other things outside is relentless. Just wish it would bugger off already.
Aborted landing - will it try again I wonder

Wow, the wind is insane, a constant freight train roar with big gusts. No chance of sleeping!
Yup. Been awake since 3.15am. No chance of getting back to sleep with this noise

Just driven my son 1 mile to the gym and witnessed two lots of building damage with fire service in attendance and a fire engine blue lights and sirens heading somewhere else locally. Think this side of Wirral has felt the brunt of the afternoon gusts.

122mph, wow, insane speeds.
Nothing much up here in Southern Scotland so far. Hope all down south stay safe. Those people on a canal boat are mad!
My friend lives on a canal boat in Oxfordshire

Had a lovely walk with the dog at 7.30 this morning - a slight breeze and a lovely but ominous sky looking towards the Irish Sea. By the time I got home the rain had started and the wind had picked up. My job today is to make sure my wheelie bin doesn’t blow away . Stay safe everyone.

Yes this short lived nasty spell has been showing for us for the last few days. I’m glad the timing has changed so it doesn’t coincide with schools letting out!

Hi all, I "need" to travel down to Whilton Mill tomorrow from Northumberland for a race weekend, I have a large van and a caravan(yeah I know, a caravan). Looking at various forecast it seems that the worst of the storm is going to hit at around lunch time. Untill then the winds are up to around the 50mph ish. Is that still the case? Thanks
If you absolutely must get down there before Saturday then travel today. I wouldn’t risk it anytime tomorrow from early morning to evening.

Yep that second hook of winds has been shown the last 24 hours, coastal NW England perhaps taking a bartering?
The timing of it coincides with school kids making their way home

Really interesting to see this. My Mum would have been 13/14 at the time (the age my son is now) so I’ll have to ask her if she enjoyed it . Wonder if we will ever see anything like it here again

Been awake since just after 4am due to the noise of the thunder Hoping we get more later today (and hoping I can stay awake to enjoy it). We were under quite an active line of activity earlier
