  1. On a different note, The Met Office long range outlook caught my eye as they've started to talk of the possibility of "well below average" temperatures end Nov/early Dec. Without wanting to get carried away, I seem to remember them using similar terms around this time in 2010 so it looks interesting. For those more knowledgeable than me is that suggestive of a Scandi High? Hoping this is the case as from an IMBY point of view.
  2. Mine seems OK as I'm still getting a call every half an hour telling me I'm due a PPI Refund.
  3. Been absolutely chucking it down here most of the morning so far with only the briefest of lulls before the next downpour. Anyone know how long this is likely to last?
  4. Wind really picking up here now and still lashing down, as has done since about 9am.
  5. At the risk of offending our friends from the north, although this Winter's not been a classic, still far better than many I can remember. Snow still hanging around, couple of cms in the garden. I also think the "winter's over" talk is premature as 2008 brought a good dumping of snow here at the beginning of April. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a cold March with more fun and games to come, though this is based on a hunch rather than any technical analysis!
  6. Hi Coast. Proper moderate to heavy snow now. Without being too IMBY I'd rate this as an above average winter for us now with snow on the ground for over a week. Especially considering some of the snowless dross I can remember for several years pre 2008.
  7. moderate burst in Hailsham. Proper size flakes. Laying on roads and pavements quickly. Topping up the few cms still left on the grass.
  8. Rain today suggested should have been snowing here since about 8pm and nothing. Now moving away.. and with impeccable timing just started snowing , albeit lightly.
  9. WIB = "Was Ian Brown" (?). Just a thought. How's it going your way TEITS. I have to say you and Steve M have been calling it pretty good of late.
  10. Don't know about anyone else but I've been missing Ian Brown of late.
  11. Nice covering now. Grass pretty much gone. Several more hours of this all being well.
  12. Nicely setting in now in Hailsham. Good covering on everything. Good bit more to come looking on Rain Today. Hoping it stalls and stays as snow.
  13. Light to moderate snow in Hailsham. Pavements and Roads covered, grass getting there. Anyone know if this is still likely to stall over this region?
  14. Nothing to report yet in Hailsham though wind picking up. Snow shield still holding firm.
  15. Probably been asked before but as things stand is being near the coast likely to be an issue in terms of snow or rain?
  16. Reference had already been made elsewhere to the MET 6-15 and 16-30 day outlook, but this is as bullish as they've been for the cold to stay, at least for us, seemingly for the whole of Feb if they're right. Also the word "snow" is used rather than the dreaded "wintry showers" which can only be a good sign! An exciting few weeks ahead I think.
  17. I think as some have already said the best approach is to expect nothing and be pleasantly surprised. At barely 10 miles inland my gut instinct is we'll get "cold rain" with a bit of sleet. More worried about the winds to be honest. Still it's good to at least have some "weather" to talk about given the weeks of dross we've had!
