  1. Brilliant! To be fair they will firm up the detail by tomorrow evening...just hoping there are no more downgrades otherwise it will be a damp squib down here (as usual!)
  2. Evening all Just delurking for a quick `twopenneth worth`. Re the ongoing lack of detail regarding nailing this wintry period of upcoming weather, the METO have updated their weather warning at 23.01 tonight to cover the whole of england for a `period of heavy snow` on Thursday morning Meto. Talk about covering their a***s! I honestly don`t think the meto boys have a much better handle on how this is all going to pan out, than the experienced posters on here!! Just hope the the cold block is a bit stronger than is being progged tonight. Some excellent reading and learning to be had on this forum, keep it up! WOTS
  3. Morning all, So much for the much vaunted `storm` last night...max gust here 22mph! Lot of torrential rain though, rain guage indicating 35mm fell since midnight (5mm between 10pm and midnight), very soggy in the fields walking the dog Air pressure rising steadily 989mb now. Temp 10.9C Rain now stopped and skies brightening a bit. WOTS
  4. Just had a storm move north slowly here west of swindon. Not much thunder and lightening to start but really torrential rain... recorded 24mm in just under 30 minutes!! More thunder and lightening noticed after rain stopped. Watch out those of you in South Gloucetershire, seems to be getting bigger! WOTS
  5. Well captured Mr CB, great footage! Here, west of Swindon can see sheet lightening and constant distant rumbles to the south. on the basic radar a rogue cell seems to have popped up in South Wilts. Very sultry at moment here, still 21.4C and humidity up to 68%. Might as well stay up for a bit can`t see me sleeping through this for a while!
  6. Just finished night shift....what a night! Drove down to Bristol from Swindon in constant heavy rain around 1.00am rained all night in Bristol ,the customers premises I was at started flooding at 5am! Just driven back in heavy, sometimes torrential rain, accompanied by sheet lightening (difficult to tell exactly what type as the visibility/cloud base is so low). There will be localised flooding in parts of the west country if this keeps up. WOTS
  7. Spots of rain here and gone very dark. Rumbles of thunder in the east. Looks like the massive cell that has popped up out of nowhere along the M4 corridor is about to hit us! Has been upto 22.3C here this afternoon, currently 19.2C
  8. Very wet morning, had 11mm of rain since 6am. Rain easing a bit now. Overcast, 11.9C Very light airs.
  9. High cloud cover here, calm, no snow but hard frost. Currently -2.9C did reach -6.4C Nearly coldest day, did record a -6.5C on Jan 25th. Frost may linger for a while as no signs of sun breaking thro.
  10. First brief shower of soft hail and fine snow lasted 10minutes not settling though, another beefy looking shower to my north. The showers (2) here were heavier yesterday.Temp now 3.0C dewpoint -5.2C! Shows how dry the air is!
  11. Snowing hard here west of Swindon for past 10 minutes, settling on grass and cars. No sign of the end of the shower just yet. Much biger flakes now as I type, temp is 0.8C, was at 6C before the snow!
  12. Very frosty night after sleety snow late evening. -4.7c recorded last night, lanes like skating rinks this morning when walking the dog! Bright clear skies but bitterly cold wind measuring around 18mph NE`ly and currently 3.3C according to weather station. Wind chill -1c. Feels like the coldest day this winter despite the sun! WOTS
  13. Had light rain at around midday this turned to wet snow briefly around 2pm but fizzled out. Totally overcast damp/cold day. Very light NE wind and currently 0.9C for last hour or so.
  14. Snowed for about the same time up here but only 1cm lying. Temperature now at 0.7C for past half hour, slight thaw going on, dewpoint still -0.8C though, probably warming up too quick for the next front to bring anything white! Here`s hoping I`m wrong WOTS
  15. Currently 2.9c and cloudy SW light wind. Earlier lovely clear frosty morning with overnight min of -4.1c. WOTS
  16. Just back in from walking the dog in the snow here (west of Swindon) huge flakes earlier but now easing off About 1-2cms lying on the grass and also settled on the lane as well. Second bout of lying snow this November after Thursdays showers in a usually snowless North Wiltshire, and both from a Northerly direction ...amazing. Roll on the Winter months! WOTS
  17. No rain yet but some very bright lightning and within 5secs loud thunder claps Must be about a mile off then!
  18. Slight covering from overnight snow now gone. Skies are leaden grey and has now started snowing moderately, big flakes and its horizontal in the NE`rly gusty wind. Not sticking yet, Temp 1.8C Trying to find out which way the precip over Bristol/Gloucester is moving but my radar animations have stopped working on the PC, checked the box in properties on IE to allow animations is ticked.... still not working anybody any ideas? Cheers
  19. Some lying snow from overnight quickly melted. Just taken the mutt for a walk....bad timing... must have been the heaviest pulse of rain seen here since Christmas! Right *****y miserable, only 4.2C Steady rain all morning. Typical.. heaviest precip for ages and its too warm for snow
  20. Sleet has now turned to proper snow and its coming down quite steadily here Temp now 2.2C
  21. Been watching the local football team lose (again)! in moderate rain (some sleet in it) Strange thing though was that the breeze was coming from the east Temp down to 3.8C now, early pm was 5C. Could be snow soon?
