  1. Think I heard a couple of rumbles while in the pub but cannot be sure. Heavy rain at the same time. Anything more coming Macclesfields way or to the SW is it all just rain? :S
  2. Yeah, I should probably look at this more in this way, just sitting around hoping is doing my nut in. So will just do whatever I normally do, and await the thunder, rather than chase it.
  3. I will believe it when I see it I guess. It doesn't seem humid at all here, just quite warm. Mike.
  4. Having just seen BBC Weather forecast, I am officially calling an end to my storm chase. Don't see anything heading towards my area, will be concentrated further South. Good luck to all chasing tomorrow, and take care! Mike.
  5. Hoping for something big this evening. Beginning to look more promising again dare I say it, now I've said that I'll probably kill it all! Lol.
  6. Hmmm looks like everything is firing to the North and West for me. Wonder if tomorrow might be better chance for me? Mike.
  7. Can see a heavy shower on the radar at 1445, over Bootle/Southport way. Can anyone confirm? Mike
  8. Looking good for something here in Macclesfield. Was dubious of getting anything until this morning, but might get the camera out in hope! Some Ac Cas clouds here as well now. Mike.
  9. Interesting report come in from one of my friends after the storm over Stafford, and a bit of an appeal for more information. My friend has told me he saw a blue/green/aqua/teal tear shaped ball of light quite low down over the town, with a huge blue ora to it. The lightning was quite low, and he said it looked like it either went down to the ground or was expanding and shrinking, there was no noise from it, and he said it was 'too perfectly orby'. It might be an explosion, it might be a generator hit by lightning, but with that report possibly a Ball Lightning event has taken place. Did anyone else see something? Cheers, Mike. PS. There was a greenish glow above the town approx 10x the size of the orb, during the event.
  10. Wow, definately no longer a member of the no storms club. That storm was amazing! I am only 19 years old but that is the most beautiful and most powerful storm I have EVER seen. Somewhere in the region of 150 discharges of lightning, at a rate of 1 per second. Pink Lightning, 70% IC, 25% C-C, 5% CG. I am utterly stunned. Rain was torrential but well needed. I can see a long line of heavy rain coming in still, is that electrified too?
  11. Anything else coming for Macclesfield before 7pm or Stafford tonight? :/
  12. Large line of bright white Cb's to my West now. Not quite anvils forming yet, but not far off I don't think. Just missed that shower with only a few large drops of rain at about 1255. Cheers, Mike.
  13. Best of luck to you as well. As I speak, gone dark, and still, warm and slightly humid still though. Cheers, Mike.
  14. Can see towering cumulus with very dark bases to the south west of here, must be 10+ miles away but looks like something coming soon. especially looking at the radar. Cheers, Mike.
  15. Will be between Stafford and Macclesfield this afternoon mixture of walking, train and bus while travelling home from uni. Should I expect anything? Cheers, Mike.
  16. That trough is dead over Stafford at present, I'm a little clueless is that good for storms over us if the cold front hits it over us? Cheers, Mike.
  17. Up at the university. Holding out for another storm, will give it till 12, if nothing by then, I'm hitting bed.
  18. Hi everyone, just wondering whether its worth waiting up here in Stafford for anything tonight. Light rain atm, had a heavy pulse about an hour ago or just under, but thats it so far. Anyone any ideas? Thanks, Mike.

  20. Hi, also want to be out of the no storms club, and the light rain has just hit us now. I keep reading about these severe warnings for North West England until the morning, so what is the chance that Macclesfield is going to see some form of thunderstorm tonight? I've really got all fingers crossed, as I'm beginning to give up on 2010 as a stormy year! Cheers, Mike.
  21. Thunder heard to the South, from Macclesfield at 1502z, possibly from the cell over Stoke-on-Trent.
