It’s official…..Wettest March in over 40 years for England

Could contain: Advertisement, Poster, Page, Text, Plant, Vegetation

It was bound to happen as soon as they started saying driest winter and probable summer drought/hosepipe ban at the end of Feb.  People think weather patterns are random but we have too often seen above average rainfall after the media starts talking about drought for it to simply be a coincidence.

Friday looking to be a tad windy....oh, and of course, very wet!

MY DDs football team has managed 4 football matches since the start of December due to weather interruptions and no doubt this Saturday will be a water-logged pitch again and then it is a 2 week break for Easter and then we are in to the final few matches of the season.  Last year she was golden boot for her age group, this year she is likely to miss out just because she is half a dozen matches down.

As above no sun at all today , yet another rubbish week ahead likely wet but a mild weather pattern that's not been seen here in the east for a while...I blame all the cold lovers for this...they wanted that SSW, and thanks to them its happened and now none stop rain and nothing spring like in the future either 🙄

IT may not be the weather of choice but we will all appreciate the rainfall later in the year

Some more stat digging for ya! From January 1990 up until this month so far, out of 399 months in total, March 2023 is currently the 6th dullest month out of all those 399 months. Sure, there is still another 13 days left after todays 100% overcast day but with the forecast looking absolutely dull as dish water, the month is still guaranteed to be in the bottom 20 at best. Truly woeful month.

2018 had a very dull March and April - and then a very sunny May, June and July.....

Nonsense it's all the national news is talking about Frist before moving on to everything else.

BBC News website, top story is currently about some over entitled, overpaid presenter who thinks he is above the rules.  Snow and Ice live is in right hand 'other stories not important enough to warrant a photo' column.  Yesterday snow and ice was the main top left most space on the pave story.

Well done. There's something quite special about being out in steady snow. Trust all that runninmg about toasted you up nicely!

Did the snow settle quicker on the astro than elsewhere? I was in Clarence Park doing my daily walk until about 4.30, by which time the sleet had turned to heavy snow. Was startled by the brilliant white of the games courts erlier where the snow had somehow not thawed whilst everywhere else was just wet.

Would have preferred to watch the snow fall but had to watch the match and couldn't see a lot as so much went onto my glasses...

Sleet turned to steady snow about 4pm in St Albans. What's more it's getting steadily heavier andeverything is turning white again.

Mesmerising to watch! Radar suggests it just might bow out with a flourish in about an hour.

Really enjoyed being linesman on the school football match 4.30 ko on the astro.  By the end we would have had to stop anyway as you couldn't see the lines.  DDs team won 7-0, I can only imagine how unpleasant it must have been for the girls on the other team.

Ptobabl;y got about the same 2cm we had this morning.

Had a 10 min snow shower today when driving from crowborough to herstmonceux. Thought it would turn to rain as I left the elevation of crowborough but it didn't!

So what are everyone's thoughts for snow Chances here during early march?

WE seem to have had snow/sleet symbols on the BBC long range forecast for the last week or more - but they never get closer than T120 before being pushed back or disappearing....

Morning - quoted above from the mod thread. This is a positive for us lot I think, yes? I know it’s almost march etc but with uppers like that if we can generate some showers off the sea and a breeze to pull it in, we might actually see something?

It’s been 2 years since I’ve seen any snow so I’m hoping so!

You need to move to somewhere with a snowier climate - perhaps Southern California?

It's usually sunny and warm in Southern California, but area forecasters are experiencing a first
