Hey there Russ Last night was brilliant I thought as well, im on the east side of the IOW and we went to culver downs first and then to Brading downs as well and saw some amazing Lightning with very loud Thunder. Did you see the Thunderstorm about 6am this morning? I thought was a little beauty with pink Lightning and again very loud thunder making it shake around here.

Wowww that was our 6th or 7th Thunderstorm since midnight, I missed about 3 storms last which was right over head according to my friend, but the one just passed threw I didnt miss at all and was a little beauty with pink lightning 1 produce a double CG, and lots of IC and single CG'S, thunder was very loud. Not a bad way to start a saturday morning!

Wow this has to be one of the best nights in a long long time, all started with that Shelf cloud and gust front that past threw. Had some Amazing Lightning on and off all night, the storm we had produce some unbelievable CG'S and CC'S, lots of Anvil crawlers. Theres been about 8/9 Storms go threw tonight with all amazing Lightning. Would believe it, we have another lil thunderstorm over us now, saw 2 amazing CG's about 10 minutes ago, and had extremely loud crack of thunder about 3 minutes ago. Lightning going off every 30 secs as well!!!!!!!!!

Wow What a Thunderstorm we Just had, Amazing CGS and Loud Thunder, Loads of CC Lightning true, Anvil Crawlers and dont think its over yet, there is another cell moving up by the look of it too!!!

OMG we had the msot craziest Gust front and Shelf Cloud go threw, it went stupidly windy with crazy Rotaition and about 3 funnels too :o Stuff to my South looks interesting.

ITS GOONNNA RAIN, sorry had to say it love Family guy :L 12z rolling out in about 30 minutes hopefully it will look interesting and hope the storm potential will still be there

That sounds pretty amazing, down here on the Island we got some amazing views, I normally go up to this place called Culver Downs, I can just go up there and shows around Half of the Island, miles and miles out to sea and I can see as far as Brighton from there and alot of the other parts of the mainland, Im still yet to capture my first Lightning photo so hopefully that will change this year My friend said I can use his camera next time, hes a big storm lover too and he has an amazing Camera not sure what its called but it takes pictures instantly

Oh and Thankyou Coast and I think everyting might be legal :L well most things I prefer Imports as In my opinion they last a lot longer and you get a lot more lightning with them most of the time and especially as they happen mostly over evening and Night time, it makes it that just bit more better knowing that you can relax, chill out with a beer or something and jsut watch the show

I hope so Coast, and I agree the radar and Lightning detector will be very important and is amazing on the amount of potential we have had for the past 3 weeks for this time of year Good Luck to everyone!!!

Come on guys lets be positive IMO things looking interesting tomorrow night into saturday, I reckon there will be a Thunderstorm or 2 about just fingers crossed and stay positive

Thankyou guys lets hope Mother Nature does do birthday presents B) Jane if my brithday was friday then my it may of been very well a good storm night, i hope anyways but who knows could be a suprise tomorrow

Agreed Harry, I too will more than happy with those charts if they came off, just a matter of wait and see and fingers crossed! My 18th birthday tomorrow so would be nice to have a storm or 2 at the weekend for a nice birthday present

Friday Night into Saturday is interesting me a bit at the moment, charts show something trying to come up from france with a bit of cape and LI with some heavy precipitation over the South coast and South east, any thoughts on this? Hmmm, obviously it will change but just interesting to see

Hmm we got yet more Mid level Cumulus and plenty of AcCas all around us, and the stuff to our south is almost shower size so interest too see

These set ups would be so much better if was June me thinks, but these storms was Elevated or Semi Elevated then it would get across in no trouble, but it just seems to be mostly surface based at the moment, which is why it gets killed off by the channel still :/

Wow what a strange looking sky at the moment, maybe that rain in northern france may clip us, ya never know

OMG most annoying thing ever last night, about 1:30am a small cell moving towards the Island looked like it was going to die, but as soon as it hit the cell just shot right up and when it got to the center of the island it produced about 10/11 CGS with some loud thunder reported by my friend and a couple of others. The annoying thing about it was I MISSED IT, I fell as leep

Exactly what I was thinking, can anyone here any distant thunder yet?

Haha, tell you what thought if these conditions was in June, I gurentee you, the storms will be a lot more potent

Hmm, well I wouldn't call tonight a complete let down, heard distant rumbles around 7pm to my ESE/SE but nothing much for the next hour or 2 except it came over really dark around 8pm with a few spots of rain and another distant rumble, the sky looked quite interesting too, had like this wavey type look to the clouds. by about 9pm I got home and noticed couple of lightning strikes was getting close with a heavy pulse of rain. We popped up culver and even when I left my house I heard a distant rumble, when we got up there, there was this huge strike infact it was 5 strikes in 1. There was a couple more flashes and saw 1 more CG , and a couple of rumbles but that was it. Rain got heavy but passed threw pretty quickly, but hey ho not a bad effort for April

I can hear distant thunder, there been about 10 of them, according to IOW lightning detector the storms are getting close to us but don't know how accurate it is, becuase the net weather radar showing everything a bit further south than it showing :S

It's beautiful here, sun is out temps upto 20/21c, can see some nice towers going up to my North, keeping eye on the radar, that storm over france is interesting me fingers crossed.

Its nice out there, been sunny most of the morning, gfs 06z looks pretty good for tonight, but met office and NAE don't look as great :/ ah well going to try and be positive.
