  1. This site seems to show more ice, I guess it is overdone a little. http://ocean.dmi.dk/...te/index.uk.php
  2. Hello Can anyone explain why these do not match? DMI/COI (select anomalies) Unisys (select anomalies) The first one seems more in line with the sea ice melt.
  3. The current state of the arctic sea ice is very worrying. I do not think we can blame residual heat in the oceans now. Yes, Hudson Bay area has seen unusually mild weather but where are the gains in other areas such as Barents Sea? What I do not understand is why are the SSTs in Barents below average but the sea ice below also? Can anyone explain? http://arctic.atmos.uiuc.edu/cryosphere/IMAGES/recent365.anom.region.6.html http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=charts;type=seatemps;sess=
  4. Piers Corbyn's Essence of Winter forecast. Surely make or break for him with this one:
  5. Very good summary, thanks. I hope underlying AGW is "modest" as you suggest. Otherwise, if global temperatures do remain static or fall slightly over the next 10 to 20 years, more and more will reject AGW, CO2 emission will rise significantly and then the next generation will be in a real mess. Scientists and governments need to send a clear message out now about the -PDO etc and the affects on global temperatures now. They need to forecast the lower increases in global temperatures. I think some scientists are having a competition about who can make the most dramatic statement about AGW and this will backfire.
  6. I'm one of the 31%ers. Yes, temperatures have been increasing but I do not think they are right now, I think they will decrease next year and maybe deccrease a little further for another 10 years or so. Debate is not futile, I seek the truth not a desired outcome. The only thing that might be futile is this poll because there are no timescales in the question.
  7. I may have misinterpreted the question. For those that voted "definetly increasing", are you expecting 2011 to be warmer than 2010? If so, do you think CO2 is the overriding factor; having a greater impact than La Nina, solar cycles etc? I think 2011 will be cooler and surface temperatures are decreasing at this moment in time. Longer term, I don't know.
  8. Hi everyone, first post. The temperature seems to be dropping quickly to our north. Is that normal and are we seeing the first signs of the lack of current on SSTs? Looking at the various depth options, it seems the flow does not want to cross the Atlantic at the moment.
