    This afternoons snow looks to be just heading out of the irish sea towards N wales.

    on the met office web site they have light snow from 9am-3pm. From 3-6pm heavy snow, turning to sleet untill at least 9pm. Now i don't expect wintry precipitation untill 9pm, i still think we are going to do really well out of this system!

    Carol Kirkwood just said 1-6cms of snow for the midlands, not mentioning high ground either!! An upgrade if ever there was one! Seems SSIB beat me to it!!

    SSIB, couldn't agree more, a case of glass half empty! Maybe we've been spoilt somewhat this winter.

    Rain starting to show signs of turning to snow, very sleety. think we are going to do well out of this.

    Still raining here, wind picking up and temperature beginning to fall slowly. Still looking good for tonight/tomorrow morning wrt snow&ice.

    As i don't have to go anywhere tomorrow i'm hoping there's enough energy left in the system, when the rain turns to snow, to give a good covering followed by a freeze.Would be nice to hold on to some of the snow untill wednesdays potential fun and games!

    Long time "lurker", on this superbly informative thread. Big thankyou to all the "big hitters", GP, JH, Chiono, Steve murr, Nick sussex, etc... Would just like to ask. Do we not need to go through a breakdown in this current cold spell, to a more mobile pattern to get us to the next phase?

    At an elavation of 83 metres the temperature has been below 0c for several days now. The snow that started here before 9 this morning is now intensifying. Looks to me, after looking at the radar(will it rain today?) website, that most of us are going to do really well out of this!

    snowflakes=Huge, just adding to the already ample cover. Even if there is a slight thaw later, the roads are going to quickly become dangerous once it all freezes solid!!

    after an unsettled start to the month, i'm expecting the weather to settle down, bringing with it plenty of frost and fog, hence 4.8c
