I think the day is done, looking North the clouds are brightly lit by the setting sun, Not much to come I guess!

Another mass approaching from my West, very dark and appears convective, though I can't say much yet as it's probably 30 minutes away!

My secondhand shower, not much to report, and the stuff behind is equally unimpressive!

I thought I was in luck! Massive black cloud front approaching from the London direction (West) The temp dropped by perhaps 2c and then the mother of all short sharp showers arrived. Maybe 5mm in 10 minutes, now passed to my East. In the brighter area behind I can see massive towering cumulus, and a further grey area behind so i'm still hoping just maybe there may be a strike triggered amongst this chaos.

25.c presently, the earlier heavy cloud has thinned significantly and the wind can barely be felt. The wind is so low in fact that the clouds don't appear to be moving!

Clear start here, 20.c at 9am Temp now dropped to 18.c Winds very light from the SW perhaps 4mph Now extremely cloudy with huge dark based cumulous

Just had a short sharp shower here, very large drops but no real content, no apparent change in wind or temp so it's probably coming but just a bit dis-organised at the moment!

Is anything Happening south of Basildon? I can see the odd tower, but the airliners from Stanstead that normally pass overhead travelling South are now passing further East!!

Any chance of a link to your site if you have one? One of the sites I regularly visit has not been updated since 2008, I reckon a lot of people know what site I'm talking about, but if it's not calibrated regularly it's as much use as a chocolate teapot !!!

Thanks Paul. I visited that site earlier today when the storms were brewing but the 5-15 minute update was offputting and the subscription service sent me packing! I logged into about 5 different stormvue sites this afternoon, although they all showed the lightning activity and storm data, they were all over the place. Surely there must be at least one that's accurate!

Hi all, before joining this forum I would log into various sites using Stormvue software and Boltec lightning detectors. I won't mention any in particular but what I have noticed is that they all differ in direction, distance, and strikes recorded. Is there any one in particular that is accurate? I appreciate they are funded by enthusiasts and amatuer radio enthusiasts of which I am, but it is confusing when the data is so different from one to another. Apologies if this has been asked before, a link to the answer would be very appreciated.

I can see the cell moving over Thurrock from here and it looks a bit juvenile so hopefully it's going to grow, however the cell to my south coming from Kent is falling apart and I don't expect much to come from it !
