looking for NLC`s last night....came across this cam which showed of the Comet clearly Hopefully will be seen with the naked eye by most people..especially those with less light pollution should be clear on Sat morning across the UK...4 am

If i`m honest Rob the clear spot for Fri/ Sat which has been forecast all week..... is likely to materialize now That`s a good start Chance of NLC`s...for a forecast for tomorrow night/Sat, we would have to go to the '4 day out' of yesterday`s AIM Unhead of i know....So.. as you can see there`s a strong mass of cloud around the '4 days out' area (between 8 & 9 o`clock)....All of the clouds, around that area, are down past the 65° latitude The clouds around the 65`s ° latitude..... would give a 5-20° altitude display Sat Morning for me ..has a good chance of being one of them 'once in a lifetime opportunity' ...with Comet Neowise in the same skies. and so far ....still looking good Eagerly looking forward to todays AIM

Well looking at the last AIM makes me think of what we missed on wed...almost as low a latitude over the UK that we`ve ever seen....Last season there was a small cloud over Norfolk ..which eventually migrated over to the Midlands Frustrating i know...i noticed the bright eary glow behind the Northern clouds at around that time but didn`t take to much notice cause there were no stars visible It would have been looking good for tonight....but

A tasty latest AIM 30-06-2020...Theres a bulk of clouds all of the way back around from 1 o`clock back to 8 o`clock 'days out' position...ie last night, tonight and tomorrow night If they hold together in that position..which is down and past the 65° latitude... then i would be expecting a low-medium altitude display above the horizon.....Around 0-15°... which is around the altitude of Capella throuhout the night/ morning But as Rob stated...I dont think we will be lucky with the lower weather @mushymanrob ...this Aim image shows our lucky display really well...A bulk of cloud down to just below the 60° latitude to the NW.....which showed up as an early doors, bright display at 20-25° altitude (high)

WHY ARE NOCTILUCENT CLOUDS SO WAVY? Anyone who's seen noctilucent clouds would agree. They are extraordinarily wavy--much more so than ordinary clouds near the surface of the Earth. Consider this example photographed by Marek Nikodem of Szubin, Poland: "On the morning of June 30th, an exceptionally bright and beautiful display was visible," says Nikodem. "Even random people who went to work in the morning stopped and admired the electric-blue ripples." What makes noctilucent clouds so wavy? The answer lies in the lower atmosphere. Powerful storm systems and other disturbances near Earth's surface send ripples of temperature and pressure up into the sky. These ripples are called "gravity waves." Gravity waves can propagate all the way up to the mesosphere, where they imprint themselves on the forms of noctilucent clouds. Often, gravity waves break in the noctilucent zone (82-85 km above Earth's surface), dumping their energy and momentum there. Radar studies of noctilucent wave structures can trace this energy and tell researchers a great deal about upper atmospheric circulation.

Latest Aim For 29-06-2020 Seem to have broken down from the 3 day out..... but theres plenty of bulk down to the 65°latitudes`s and a few individual clouds down to lower latitudes for tonight interesting the 1 day out forecast shows exactly what we saw last night which was a fairly high showing in the NE skies Edit in my excitment last night i mixed up East from West..last nights showing was N-NE
