  1. Well a better day today, winds NW force 4-6 cool at 15c but overall OK for my lunchtime ride, a short sharp shower at around 11am This was taken at just after 12.30pm near Grindale airfield As a confirmed heat hater I will happily sacrifice nice weather for keeping temperatures below 22c, but this last weekend has to be one of the wettest dullest for a while, and we were on the southern edge of the rain bad for a lot of the time Growing up in London in the 60s there were a number of years where even in London we never made 30c.
  2. You may be lucky, in a lot of set ups Brid will miss some of the rain even when other places up and down the coast are wet.
  3. So far steady rain here but nothing out of the ordinary, tomorrows forecast looks wet, but not yellow warning wet here. We are right at the edge of the warning area. Yesterday there were some heavy showers, bike ride ended up being delayed by 45mins, and was completed in the dry. However yesterdays rain was very patchy, with no rain at all at lunchtime up beyond Grindale airfield, where as in the village we had a substantial spell of moderate rain.
  4. I find the BBC forecasts to be the least accurate of any sources. I don't know who provides their forecasts but I ignore them.
  5. You are both true heat haters when you are watching the weather forecast together while drinking your early morning cup of tea, and both go YEAH!!! when the graphic at the end comes up
  6. Lunchtime here produced a WSW force 5-6, with sunny intervals and temps at 20c. Some dark looking clouds to our south, but nothing more than a few spots of rain here so far. Quite a bit of convection visible to the NW as well.
  7. A lot of thunder and lightning, with one downpour here, and more incoming. I was cutting firewood, but I have given up as it looks like another downpour to the SW
  8. Well lunchtime ride was completed just before the rain got going. Wind was SE force 5, cloudy and 15c. By the time I got back it was very light rain, just enough to make you damp. Has now turned into a wet afternoon.
  9. Yes we live on that little nose of land that sticks into the north sea at Flamborough Head, so have sea close by on 3 sides. Even a few miles inland was 4-6c warmer.
  10. I don't like hot weather, and to me anything over 22c is hot, i prefer it below 20c. I grew up in London in the 60s, and there were years when 30c was never reached. Nowadays its exceeded by a considerable margin evert year. I now live on the Yorkshire Coast and even last year our top temperature was 29c, way too hot for me, but not as bad as places inland.
  11. Wind was a feature today, WSW Force 5 - 6. A headwind for the first 3.5 miles of my daily cycle, but with temps at 19c I am not going to complain, much better than last year in July when it felt like some one had opened the doors to the furnaces in Hell. Not much sun. Then this shower made its first spots of rain felt and I decided to change my route. Managed to avoid most of it, got a bit damp on the last half mile.
  12. Interesting view of the wind turbines taken from Bridlington Harbour this morning with low lying mist to the south. Taken by my wife
  13. Fairly regular thunder here for the last half hour, but passed just to the north and west. About 10 large spots of rain per paving slab, not enough to wet the ground, and sun now back out.
  14. The fact that the wind has been SE today has pegged the temperatures back to 20c here today. Very little cloud, with strong sunshine. Lunchtime ride was OK. My wife was in York until early afternoon and said it was too hot for her and she was relieved to get back to Bempton.
  15. Well this week has been OK here, lunchtime rides have produced a westerly quarter wind every day, starting NW Monday and more SW today. Sunny intervals and temperatures at 19c today. So no visits to the heat haters thread. I just hope the heat forecast for the next couple of days decides to bypass our bit of East Yorkshire.
  16. Lords and SWMBO don't not go together, and it was her birthday treat... Quite happy with it not making 20c, as we are both heat haters.
  17. If you get the first Hull Trains out of Beverley you get into London at 9.15, and leave London at 4pm that's long enough for us. With no changes its an easy journey and we treat ourselves to first class so it's comfortable.
  18. We have been down to London for the day today, it was fresh and cool, Mrs Mike57s birthday treat. We arrived back in Beverley to rain, and driving up home looks to have been wet. From our point of view ideal weather for walking about, but other may disagree.
  19. Lunchtime on the Wolds brought N winds force 3-4, and temperatures of 17c and sunny intervals. Much more pleasant than yesterday. Defintely my sort of weather, I dont need to go and hide in the Heat Haters thread.
  20. I was in Malton until mid afternoon and is was humid and warm but very little sun. Back home for about 3 and it's been thick cloud and humid. I went on my daily ride at 4pm and wind were SW force 3, with temperature at about 20c. Some dark cloud with I suspect rain to the South
  21. We had a single rumble of thunder during a heavy shower this morning, there may have been more but I was inside. Been fine since then.
  22. Thunder, lightning and very heavy rain, as I am typing rain has gone from 'very heavy' to 'biblical', at Bempton
  23. My first time in this thread this year, up until the middle of last week the easterlies had kept the temperatures pegged back to 20c ish at the coast. But today has been horrible, 25c+ which is hot for our location and very humid as well. Not improved by the fact that I have spent a good bit of the day unblocking the kitchen drains. Sorted now but plenty of sweat and swearing, and an emergency Screwfix trip in a too hot car. I realise we don't get the worst of the heat here, and I really feel sorry for those living inland at this time of year. Hopefully the cold front tomorrow will cool it down for everyone, and my wish, that you don't see me in this thread again this year, and I bet everyone else feels the same, happy to meet you all in a 'coolest summer for 20 years' thread, or a winter cold thread but not here...
  24. Way beyond my comfort zone, currently sat feeling sorry for myself. Not improved by the fact that I have spent a good bit of the day unblocking the kitchen drains. Sorted now but plenty of sweat and swearing, and an emergency Screwfix trip in a too hot car. Now going to spend the rest of the evening in the heat haters thread.
