  1. the icons on BBC show it to be similar to last sats event where it turned to rain, is there a big difference this time around? cheers
  2. grass still white with slushy dusting determined to hang on although pavements etc 95% clear - no ice which is a positive though
  3. Morning guys, at least some of us had a covering during day light so we could appreciate it before the rain took it away!! Anyone in the know (iceberg etc) able to say how our chances are this week for a repeat snow event? MOD is full of jolly saaafff easterners so lots of imby-ism going on!!!
  4. -6.8c and falling here steady 1035hPa dp -9.8c Hum 79% v.slowly increasing
  5. Invest in nw extra radar, priceless in these situations, save eye strain from lampost watching
  6. evening, temp dropping steady (0.57c /hr), humidity rising, currently 91%. DP: 1.48c temp: 2.8c
  7. Morning all, fingers crossed for tonight/tomorrow am, splashed out on NW radar last night just in case. the day will now be viewed in 5 min segments! 1.1 c DP: 0.8
  8. i had same msg earlier, kicked me out. think it might be my incredibly slow carp laptop though. edit: just got in ok must be intermitant problem
  9. wow thats some serious rainfall. i need 144mm in the next 16 hours or so to match it lol
  10. 35mm so far for me, over 30mm from todays storm. peaked at 14.7mm an hour when the squall line passed over The highest recorded in my garden for over a year and a half (time i've had a rain gauge)
  11. Amazing pictures, any suggestions for a favourable location (southwest) and time of year to see these types of clouds? i've read about hilly areas being a good place to start. Would really like to catch some snaps to add to my collection
  12. bargain, think thats the route i'll take for additional temp sensors. have been thinking about having a seperate summer/winter and not bother moving one twice a year. or is that really lazy?!
  13. Wondered if anyone treated themselves to some new equipment this Christmas for their weather stations? I now have a UV sensor for my Oregon WMR100 which should prove useful in the summer for predicting 'cooking times' in garden!
  14. I think its the warming of the stratosphere not a SSW which people are seeing in the models.
  15. But would it not be a case of coincidence, surely the chance of what type of winter conditions we can expect is the same as flipping a coin? So far I've seen wintry showers 3 times this winter whereas someone maybe 30/40 miles away hasn't. I don't think this is due to my location being due anything. This is only my opinion. I see what your saying though bristol
  16. Not sure we should be so downbeat already, and there certainly is no such thing as law of averages or being 'due' any type of weather, it is what it is.
  17. Very nice pic, last year was awesome. Think that'll be a once in a lifetime event for these parts for the length of time we had snow on the ground.
