I wouldn’t want to be near the red zone, once that thaws flooding could become an issue, also with added rainfall.

Is Thursdays/Fridays event looking like a non starter for our area ? Most models seem to keep the precipitation over the southwest and into Ireland.
You may catch it as it moves north on Thursday. Coming up from the channel

Bloody cold out even the dogs didnt want to stay out long. Can see lots of high cloud heading in from the Fens
Don’t hold your breathe for this location. We should have had some heavy showers but nada. Further south and east will do much better. Thursday we are dry. Winds in the wrong direction. And friday is a hit and miss

I mentioned in last thread that we are a snow-no-go area , sucks
Sad to say the beast from the east does nothing for our local. Need wind to change. Can't believe we done better with the pest from the west on the 10 of December. !

I'm 20 miles south live in. Huntingdon. Easterly always misses this area. Unless wash streamer start up and wind turn. Lol

Relax people.
Wait until later....
See below 700hpa vent vert and watch the orange/reds from midnight to midday tomorrow. A tell tale since of things kicking off and probably why a Convergence line is on the latest fax indicating particularly a Thames Streamer.
Associated snow depths as well
The above points to an interesting next 24hrs. Anything received in daylight hours today should just be viewed as a bonus. Of course this is only a guide and showed be viewed with caution rather than scrutiny. I am quietly confident most of us will awake to some form of covering by dawn tomorrow, but as always in this setup some more than others. And I'm just below the streamer coming of near the wash. So I expect 0 lol

Looking at the radar it seems much heavier snow showers are now developing across N Norfolk.
Hi teits. Do you think the showers will push further south and west, with a wash streamer setting up. So far in huntingdon the snow shield is holding firm. Would be nice for your expertise in this thread.

I agree places in south Essex and coastal areas will get a lot of snow but further north up into north Essex and Suffolk im not so sure, but who knows it will all come down to the day and the direction of the streamer.
If you get it coming NE then a wash streamer will set up. As it has a larger body of water to pick up convective showers merging into long spells of snow

I don't think most here will even try if it snows. Getting a lot of it won't snow here, but if it does my road don't get gritted so I'm staying home. Last proper snowfall here was from a channel low in 2013, Dover didn't get much snow in town but was completely cut off from surronding areas due to the hills.
Wish they had common sense here! seems as it starts to come down heavy And settles they all jump in their cars and race who can be the first to make tracks lol.
December the 10th we had heavy snow I stood at my window laughing at the young neighbour across the road jumped in his big van and struggled trying to get up the road. He abandoned his van half on the road half on the path and walk back into his house. it amazes me that they never learn. ?

This! I remember most of the country under snow whilst we were having garden parties. There was a satellite picture of the UK with the wild headline of whiteout yet in Norwich is was as green as a green thing. Fingers crossed for this time round.
Yeah and we were down for heavy snow only for it to change 6 hrs before the event. That was also of an easterly flow. Ne wind is better as that gets all of eastanglia and also a a wash streamer starts up pushing them inland.

I was being a bit flippant but living in the Heathrow area isn’t often great for snow. There's nothing to suggest 10 foot drifts of snow and the apocalypse just yet. Deep cold is likely, so that’s a good start. Hope your area gets lots more than 1cm, that’s just no good!
Everyone talks about the great 2010 well we had nothing everywhere else got pasted and an erea in east anglia was dry as a bone. Now that’s what you call bloody ironic.

Funny, that. Trying to be upbeat but keep seeing my area getting an inch of slush, as per usual! I just want to see a proper, white out blizzard. Then I’ll be content for another decade.
Well my area sits in a basin so all the snow goes around the area and gets Peterborough to sawtry and Cambridge, so lucky if we get 1cm. I lived in March for 6 years and every year we had snow. Kids loved it.

lol..Any rwd is bad.. My wife had a Lexus in 2009 and she got stuck on a roundabout
I've got a small Mazda which is front wheel drive. Another trick is too deflate your tyres a little in the snow so tyres have a wider grip.
Yes rwd. Not good at all. The problem with the Mercedes is that it was powerful even when knocked out of auto into gear shift the stupid thing just sat there and wheel spun. I think that’s why the recommend snow tyres lol.

you're wicked lol..
my car park is on an incline so I make sure my car's parked at the top when it snows..
Just make sure you don’t have a Mercedes, even on a straight road they spin and slide. I know that first hand as it did it to me. Probably the worst car we had had in winter conditions. Lol

I hate slush turning back to solid ice, the roads and pavement become a nightmare.
My close goes down hill and then bends round, every time it snows and gets icy I watch the drivers sliding all over the place. I even end up laughing when they try to get up the road and their cars are sitting there spinning or sliding backwards.

That’s the thing it can disrupt so many ppl ... don’t get me wrong would love to see a memorable event happen but ..
I don’t mind when it sticks around for a couple of days but when it lasts and the cold hangs around longer, I get fed up with it. It’s horrible when it goes all slushy and everything is water logged.

Thanks. I was looking at the radar with it spreading further through the channel into the SE Corner and just wondered if the winds started going NW it might have kicked it off.
