  1. Such a boring February here. Couldn’t really careless about temperature (my main interest lies with convective weather) but it’s just the repeated day after day of cloud, dull, grey crap that grates after a while. I just want a week or so of sun. Give me 5c and sun over 15c and cloudy, dull crap any day. The sun can even mitigate a colder air mass come late February anyway.
  2. Always the way. The weather doesn’t operate by seasons or a calendar. You can bet your bottom dollar that now many of us are ready for warm, sunny & convective weather to start appearing, northern blocking & wintery weather will start to rear its ugly head. Just a gut instinct I’ve had for a while now. Just wouldn’t surprise me at all to have a colder than average March and/or April. The usual way the weather likes to jaffa cakes around with us in this country.
  3. Reached a peak of 8.8c here today. Clouded over around lunchtime for a couple of hours but either side of that there has been plenty of sunshine. Tomorrow is looking like a cracker too, albeit a bit chilly again with single figure maxima forecast IMBY. It is still winter I suppose but being so late into winter & having had multiple 12/13/14c days recently, it’s a shame we can’t get a double figure maxima day to coincide with a non cloudy day. Being picky though admittedly. Really looking forward to the clocks going forward and some lighter evenings commencing now. Hopefully we can get a nice warm spring with plenty of sunshine mixed up with some early, decent convective activity. Like I said before though, knowing the UK’s luck, winter will return in March! Now time to watch Villa stuff the Mancs hopefully.
  4. Lovely start to the day, near clear blue skies here. Chilly at 7.3c but I can live with that. Possibility of some showers later but a much better weekend overall than the recent, dull, grey, cloudy crap we’ve had to endure thanks to the HP to the South of us wafting moist, mild air up. Unfortunately, that looks like returning come Tuesday onwards too. Today & tomorrow, bar some showers, looking good though. Off out to enjoy some late winter sunshine.
  5. Hang on, it’s not dull, it’s not cloudy, it’s not damp. We have sunshine here (albeit hazy). It’s bright, I see shadows! A bit chilly at 5.7c but it’s dry!!
  6. Second rain front of the day looks to be arriving somewhat earlier than forecast. Local forecasts had it arriving after dark, IMBY, but it’s pretty much on the doorstep now. Therefore drier slot was rather short lived.
  7. Wet & muddy dog field again. Hopeful of a drier, frosty spell after the week coming to dry & harden the ground up and make dog time more pleasurable before Spring proper arrives & a warming sun can then get to work doing the above. Fingers crossed hey!
  8. Another cloudy, dull, dreary, grey & damp start to the day. Not expecting much change as the day progresses here. Taking the dog to a secure paddock for some exercise at Bradford on Avon this morning, would be so much better and energising to have some sun shining down on us whilst stood in a glorified field. Hoping end of next weeks “cool spell” (which actually just looks like a return to more average, typical February conditions) heralds an increase in increasingly warm sunshine after some frosty mornings, & a demise of repeatedly cloudy, dreary crap.
  9. Nice day today. Sunshine a plenty, albeit hazy at times. Tad fresher than the recent, cloudy days though topping out at 7.1c. Would take a dip in temperature for sunnier conditions without hesitation though. Unfortunately, the immediate outlook indicates a quick return to cloudy, dull & at times, damp conditions though. Milder temperatures at a dull, dreary cost. On another note, I see the model thread has seen a period of re-energisation. It appears they’ve found something else, record breaking & biblical, to chase now.
  10. Car is all iced up this morning, didn’t plan for that. Running late now. A chilly 2.5c here. Looks brighter though, fingers crossed I see a different colour than grey up above today.
  11. Doesn’t look like changing, on the whole, for our part of the region. Don’t care about temperature, would just like some sunshine & less grey, monotonous cloudfests.
  12. Testing. Thanks Beka, was just testing out the new quote method & used your post as a guinea pig. Still cool & cloudy here. Is it Spring yet?
  13. Another cloudy & dull morning here. Slightly cooler than of late too, at 6.6c. Stuck in a no man’s period between a finished winter & an early spring, where it’s neither one or the other.
  14. @*Stormforce~beka* That’s exactly my predicament. The weather doesn’t operate by calendar dates. We all get drawn into a false hope of an early spring & early warmth, then when the longer evenings & higher sun starts to recommence, and we can actually make good use of said warm/sunny weather, we get sh*t on again with cold northerly winds just when the majority of us don’t want it. Do we really think we are going to sail straight through Feb, through March & into April without anymore cold weather??
  15. @Summer8906 I did wonder that myself. Although 2m air temperatures over the last couple of days have been milder than average for sure ( 9.2c Friday, 12.4c Saturday & so far 11.6c today), it just hasn’t felt particularly comfortable personally, with a nagging chill still. Thought it was just me so kept quiet about it. Today, with the sun out, has actually been quiet pleasant but yesterday, predominantly cloudy for the day, was definitely fresh. Got to remember though it is late January still & even mild temperatures this time of year (low teens) are still relatively cool feeling, as they would be considered at any other time of the year. Probably me expecting too much too soon. I note the Met Office forecast for the coming week is more cloud, cloud, dull, dull days with sunshine at a premium again. Some drizzly rain around midweek time too.
  16. Brighter morning today, hopefully a bit more sun today rather than endless cloud IMBY. Nippy at 6.1c though. Outlook for the week - mild and rather cloudy. Some brighter spells possible, also some drizzly, patchy rain possible more so later in the week. All in all, whilst mild, rather dull & uneventful too.
