  1. Whilst I don’t believe much will happen here, the skies are certainly of interest, with some special looking cloudscapes that have been particularly absent throughout summer IMBY;
  2. You do realise that none of those charts show the 20c Isotherm anywhere near the UK, but rather the 15c Isotherm?
  3. Proof that not all dogs hate thunder. Towards the end of the earlier cell that passed over Bristol, there was some brief, but frequent loud, near overhead rumbles of thunder. This little one (having heard proper thunder for the first time) jumped in the window, tail wagging, and paced up and down the window ledge. I think he’ll make a great storm chaser!
  4. Thunder nearby from the shower passing over Bristol currently. Heavy rain.
  5. Nice to see the location of the only meaningful PPN/shower in the whole of England & Wales is currently sat over my locality;
  6. Kids go back to school so sounds about right. Always the same.
  7. They probably looked out the window over the last few weeks and thought it was October!
  8. The motorways are empty????? I’m on a job this week that involves me driving a train up to Acton in West London then travelling back across to Bristol via the M4. Damn job/journey is taking approx 45 minutes longer than it should do normally due to heavy traffic on the M4 both days so far this week. Lucky if I reach 60mph for any length of time. Circa 3 hours to do 110 ish miles!! Can’t wait for kids to go back to school so I can finish work on time!
  9. At Longleat today. After a morning of drizzle the sun is finally penetrating the cloud and making some scarce appearances. At least it’s dry now!
  10. Watched the Countryfile week ahead forecast earlier today and for what it’s worth, their forecast did have heavy rain and “thunderstorms” widely over much of SW England and Wales early on Friday, covering many other parts of England by later in the day. Not saying it’s correct, but there is a tendency to forecast a rather warm, humid but wet Friday in some parts now, more so the further south and west you are.
  11. Showers possible at any time throughout the day, although less so later in the day ahead of a more organised band of PPN. Might have to cut short depending on how long you plan to be outside for, as rain arrives over us late evening onwards.
  12. Are you in Bradley Stoke? As I am around the corner in Longwell Green and it’s (near enough) clear blue skies and warm sunshine here.
  13. I always wear the same leisure clothes whatever the weather outside too. It’s trackies and a t shirt whatever the temperature. A hoody too if it’s raining as I don’t like coats. Only time you’ll see me in something different is at work or if I’m at something more formal. I wear shorts at the beach but that’s it, for some reason I don’t like wearing shorts elsewhere.
  14. Odd day here today in that I was expecting much worse. Today has definitely not been as bad as many previous July days we’ve had. We had a bit of rain this morning then by late morning the sun was out and it felt relatively warm (even though the temperature wasn’t that great). Clouded over again late afternoon and some patchy rain has returned over the last hour or so. Wind wise there (so far) as been nothing more than a breeze today. Not a great summers day obviously, but definitely not the washout one feared here!
  15. I name today “pool and sun lounger day”! With the added addition of unlimited, branded, alcoholic drinks and snacks! Sorry to rub it in, I’ll disappear for the day now. Enjoy the rain & traffic jams @Bristle Si
  16. You’ll be fine. You’re in the car most of the time there anyway!
  17. Hotel doesn’t allow sun bed towel “reserving”. There are two dedicated crew who constantly walk around the areas removing folks towels, belongings etc if they haven’t been on their sun beds recently. Prefer it that way rather than the 05:30 alarm call to run down and reserve/sit with sun beds! Also, photo was taken at breakfast time this morning!
  18. If it could hang on the next 9 days then AWD will be a content man! Now, where’s the bar?
  19. Jeez I hope that’s wrong. I’m off to Tenerife for 10 days on Tuesday, that’s a notable cold anomaly even down there!
  20. 36 hours to go then I can dry off and strip off;
  21. A look at the radar this morning gives Bristol its very own “micro climate”. With the majority of the region seeing some respite of the consistent rainfall we’ve had recently, Bristol gets clobbered with a continuous streamer filtering over the City from the estuary. It’s literally just enveloping the city and surrounding areas, and is back building into one continuous drenching. Ah well, flying out to Tenerife on Tuesday morning, can’t wait!
  22. Managed to get the ground wet with a bit of heavy rain here but that’s the lot. Sad times for convective weather fans in Bristol so far this summer.
  23. Got a bit more of a NW movement to them compared to earlier so I think it’ll catch you. Not sure about me over east Bristol yet. Fresh strikes detected around the Weston area too.
