  1. I wasnt either Marie - now seeing the pink on the radar just North of us I am wondering whether to stay in and watch the radar as it "looks" like its on its way??? and as BrightInBrighton says, its coming from a cold place this time
  2. to my novice eye and very generally :-) the major pink on the radar right now is looking very similar to the NAE 6pm chart? So is it on the forecast track or not??? :-)
  3. METO have adjusted the snow symbols in our area and its earlier and further east by the looks - nothing post midnight - radar showing sleet isnt representative as nothing here in Brighton at the moment and its green on radar!
  4. I wonder if it is going the other way - west and southwest ? :-) I would agree with that - the main message loud and clear is COLD :-)
  5. NW is giving you moderate snow at midnight tomorrow - light snow down here by the coast
  6. I dont think any will be rain (maybe coast like me) if the snow band moves East enough to you, it will be snow
  7. snow on the METO symbols in the SE, Thurs eve and Friday am - not enough for a warning? as said a few cms maybe? Brighton heading for sleet again lol :-)
  8. Yes, sorry, 2 train of thoughts - end of the week and beyond for cold.
  9. no sign of wintery weather in the latest METO 6-15day UK Outlook for Monday 13 Feb 2012 to Wednesday 22 Feb 2012: A cloudy, murky but less cold start, with some stubborn fog patches as well as outbreaks of rain. However, brighter but windier conditions look set to become quickly established across the UK, with blustery wintry showers, particularly across northern and eastern areas. Towards the end of the week southern and more especially, southwestern areas look set to be fairly settled and largely dry, with wetter and more unsettled weather largely affecting the north of the UK. As February progresses these more unsettled conditions look likely to become dominant across the UK, with the risk of some very windy days. However, it could take some time for the far south to turn more unsettled, the best of any drier conditions here, but also a higher risk of overnight frosts. Updated: 1144 on Wed 8 Feb 2012
  10. charts show snow "risk" dont they, lots more dependant to get actual snow :-) Small white grains been falling on and off all morning here and its very very cold with grey grey sky - bring on the blue sky and all will be well in my world
  11. Great photos :-) As said earlier Brighton seemed to be the dividing line - East Brighton fairly heavy snow, buses stopped etc, West Brighton and Hove nothing and me in the middle started with icing sugar covering, sleety snow, some snow around 1am for an hour or so, leaving about 1-2cm which is slushy now.
  12. Brighton is very localised this time - I am around 2 miles north on a hill near Fiveways and it didnt really snow properly until about an hour ago, but I looked the the bus website and the stopped services around 11pm - Patcham, Withdean, Westdene, Moolscoomb, Coldean all nearly impassible - my lampost is at the front of the house and I am at the back - keep putting my arm out the window to see what falls, its now little grains and changing all the time. Only the heaviest prec on radar is falling as snow - I have a feeling the melt might continue as temp look like they are rising a bit
  13. at last .....struggling though, I can just about still see the white lines in the road and the snow is wet, but some big flakes for a while - I think it has turned sleety now
  14. Yes!!! The rain/sleet turned about 1/2 hour a go! Now i think it is sleety again - can still see pavements and rooftops - just - its wet snow
  15. You are under a yellow blob on the radar - it lasts a while:-) I grew up in Horsham and know Billingshurst well, enjoy your snowy sunday, still slushy here in Brighton
  16. Ok coming up to my left on the radar is a heavy band of precipitation - the gusts of wind have picked up here, decided this is the last chance for this little bit of coast to go from sleet to snow before I stop watching it, go to sleep and wake up and see what happened!!! Fingers crossed the cold air silences the drips and all is quiet and .......snow :-)
  17. still snowing? drip? we have rain still but it feels colder - big gusts from the sea coming in
  18. Oh no, dont despair, even if the air being pulled in from Europe doesnt turn the sleet to snow, its been fun hoping???? I have enjoyed the comaradarie of "no snow" people in any case :-)
  19. thanks for your response, it doesnt "feel" like it will happen to me, but if as you say cold air is pulled in, it might do. Just looked at the local paper blog and people 2 miles north of me in Brighton have had small accumulations - certainly a very localised thing here, so things could change, the winds are getting stronger at the moment.Hastings - I think snow is def more likely there:-)
  20. Still reading....even though we still have sleety rain! lol....cant even imagine what the snow must look like just a short drive north of me - just feels like a slightly cold Saturday night here - still cant see how the METO have the area down for heavy snow from midnight - anyone explain if and how things might change for us on this wee little bit of marginal coastline :-)
  21. keep watching :-) the pier and beach are fantastic in the snow - I am north Brighton now and higher up - its still very fine sleet
  22. I really do think it could change, a heavier section of the front is on its way and it might turn to snow - its definately on the edge of it - although DP and temp are still rising METO is still saying heavy snow from midnight to 6am! ??
