Not a perfect time for Man Flu to strike. . Hopefully a colder week will kill off a lot of the winter bugs. Loads of people i know have sickness bugs and colds.
-
Yep, as evidenced in the game of golf - you can hit the ball further in summer than you can in winter.
When the ball skids along the ground as most of my golf shots do it doesn't make much difference

the constant rainfall we have been battered with does not cause misery and disruption?
Yeah of course it does. But not to the same extent as ice and snow does. Floods are a more localised event. Snow & ice are a widespread nuisance.

so you have to be a child to enjoy snowfall ?
Snow causes misery and disruption to 95% of the country and 95% of the population if surveyed would tell you as much. It's fun for kids ( Although i hated it as a child ) and at a stretch the lucky few who's day to day lives are not affected by it due to not being able to work etc.

Bit of a silly statement really, considering you are a member of a weather forum.
So i have to like snow to be on this forum then? Bit narrow minded. This isn't just a snow & cold website as far as i'm led to believe. Although most of the time it sadly seems that way

very childish....
And being a grown adult and liking snow isn't??

I wouldn't miss it for the world when all this potential as it still is starts to downgrade. It's so much fun reading the Model Thread when all the toys start being thrown about. ( Hopefully )

Yeah that was a bit of a spur of the moment post for which i apolagise. I certainly wouldnt like to be flooded. My point is that different weather affects different livelyhoods and that seems to get forgotten a lot of the time in many posts on these forums. As long as the coldies get what they want nobody else matters but it also works the other way i imagineThere's a difference between a few puddles and your house being ruined by filthy flood water. Neither heavy rain, strong winds or snow/ice are desired by the general populous, but snow has one advantage: it looks nice. Flood water doesn't look nice at all. Snow might delay my morning train, but it isn't going to damage my house, unless it's exceptionally heavy.

So its bad to have your lives disrupted by rain & floods but its OK to have your lives disrupted by snow & cold. I'd rather have a few puddles than dangerous ice thanks very muchI think some just do it to wind up those who want some cold and snow they wouldnt like it if there xmas was ruined by floods believe me

One good thing. Thankfully it is half term next week, and there will not be the usual school run or children walking to school at the worst time for the strong winds on Monday morning. I am off from work too and will be keeping mine indoors. I won't even be driving down to the coast for photo opportunities!
I don't have much choice. I'll be driving from Kent to Worthing at 4.30 Monday morning to do 90 odd deliveries. I'm taking my camera !!

I used to love the summer evenings but since i have a job now where i get up at 3.15am for work so i generally go to bed about 20.00 in the evenings on weeknights. Daylight and heat until 22.00 wasn't pleasant for getting to sleep and as i drive for a living a good nights sleep is important so i'm quite looking forward to going to bed in cool darkness again soon.
Flip side is i'm now doing early morning deliveries in darkness again now where as a few weeks ago it was daylight.

Looks like i'm 10 miles too far east. Very black in the west of here. Distant rumbles. As is the norm
-
Didnt even rain here in Strood. Very distant rumbles. Thats all. Our storm shield must be powered up today as usual
-
Looking at the radar, some of the more southerly cells in that line around London might come close to my location later...hopefully still electrified to put on a shows:D
After the disappointment of Saturday i'm at the point of not getting my hopes anywhere close of Up. lol

Not posted much, but when you see this on the HR-EC, you take notice
Hi-res screengrab for 7pm tonight, plethora of activity and purples galore. Enjoy!
Blimey that purple strip is right over me !
-
20 miles further east please.
-
I guarantee it will have a bloody good go
-
Even my Blitzortung Lightning app is having a laugh. Going crazy telling me about sferics to my NW. Yeah that's just past over me and delivered virtually nothing. I'm guessing there wasn't much activity in the cell when it passed over. Now it peps up. Typical. lol
-
If thats all i get today i shall be royally annoyed. 4 or 5 deep rumbles and moderate to heavy rain for 10 mins.
-
The cell thats just hit the south coast is just the start i should imagine. Hope it gains some more intensity now it's over land again. Come on The Downs. Do your work

Beach has emptied rapidly in Bognor. A few of them pointed out to sea as they went. Lightning maybe?

Not sure if this has been posted before but a great webcam on the coast of Devon at Dawlish. Just down the road from the Starcross one. It does point roughly in a NE'ly direction though
-
Kent Gritting have just tweeted that road surface temps won't be falling below zero overnight so nothing should settle on roads thankfully
They are not even going out tonight so i think we can rule out any accumulations
