  1. Ah yeah. Missed that earlier on. The Orb yeah? That was beautiful, the most beautiful sound as a matter of fact. Ahhhhh great.goid to know I there are other middle age farts out there with Good rmusic taste. Amen. Ps I be drunk. Too drunk to correct my typos - at least without correcting them yet replacing with more typos. You get the gist.
  2. very icy out. Now all pretty much gone or melted in to slush which has frozen in the very early hours. Don't think the actually temp is much below freezing, if at all, but the ground has not thawed out and near freezing with sub zero DP's so guess all that combo did it! Tricky walk to work anyway - not fun. Roller-coaster for the next week-ish in the ensembles then it seems. Nothing too cold but a couple of mild blips. Then things all over the place but the thicker lines are all trending down through the end of the year and in to the New Year. Nothing too exciting but suspect (hope) something will suddenly appear - just we'll have to wait a few week. Ho hum.
  3. I agree, I have said before but the 6 week period from mid January onwards is often one I look forward to the most. Maybe in the last few years this has not been the case but then maybe just next year it might produce the goods!! So looking at the models and the experts analysis in the model thread and in the kilted thread the bets are off for a white Christmas, or presumably you can put the bets on for a green Christmas - that's then sure to jinks it. right, I am going to try that! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-16244250
  4. Yup, I was going to confirm similar. My family up the road from there say snow been on all day. Quite thick cover, but on the wet side for a while, but now starting to freeze! Ps double digit temps forecast for Wednesday and Thursday. Glad I got the skiing in when I did - I fear there will not be much left at the centres (in the east at least - little base). So a mild Christmas, but maybe a polar-maritime outbreak after X-mas the best we can hope for? PPS Thanks Lorenzo re the Map - see I am listed already so don't have to do anything! quite interesting to see where everyone is specifically, and the cams listing is great too. Good one!
  5. Morning all. Balters this morning = -4C though has been on the rise. So the northerly came back then it seems. We got a couple inches of snow Sunday morning that consolidated in to a couple of cm's by this morning. Nice light stuff. Does not look like it is going to be about for too much longer though! - Can see the clouds building to the west this morning but even though we have the low temps just now I expect rain. So got to finally test out the winter tyres and it is a big Went skiing to Glenshee yesterday and was fantastic. A great weekend in summary! 4 work days then it is So what is this map thing then. Off to trawl the posts from the weekend and see if there is something I am missing out on!
  6. Jings, miss a day or two and it is all change...where has my northerly gone?! On the flip side looking to be a pleasant and sunny weekend and I'm going skiing :-) Discussion changes of a bit of a pattern change a few weeks ahead but was not quite understanding what to?!
  7. There was reports of rain snow mix here in ABZ this evening according to Doc over on TWO. At a time when temp was around 4C and dew point similar!! so there is hope yet. So the winds tomorrow night look strong and just catching up with the latest forecast. It seems they are from a more traditional direction and not overly sever so hopefully will be fine. Thats my amateur slant on it
  8. Evening all. A bit of a wind pickign up and the rain is on. I expect only rain here again. So what is the status with this weeks storms? Looking at the wind forecast in XCweather there is a fair breeze predicted for tomorrow evening, but otherwise that is it? So much chopping and changing i have not been able to keep up. Still not repaired and tied down everyhting from the last one so I better get a shift on! Fingers crossed for those wanting snow in the next few days. Looking good, particularly with a bit of elevation. Not sure how much the ski centres are going to see, my usual selfish fixation, but seems west is best once more and not much for the more northern areas.
  9. lovely here. about 4C but feels milder to me. Some snow for some this week it looks like. Not expecting any here in the current set up, but the hills will get a bit more of a top up as long as it is not all blown away. Skiing next week with luck, cant get away before then. Thanks Lorenzo for link to FAX charts - that is the best site for presentation of them I have seen. A new link to the growing list.
  10. At last!!! We have had an Icing sugar dusting here!! Sub zero here clinging on to it just. Slightly warmer these next few days then more storms! Jings. Will batten down hatches better me thinks. Re the warnings, it is a hard one isn't it. Gust are by nature localised. Certainly here it was justified. I have friends still without power up here. Trees down, numerous crashes in to fallen trees etc. all adds up to red danger to me? So skiing us a go at most if the centres. I am there ASAP - prob not till next weekend but for hills at least it looks to stay cold for the foreseeable??...
  11. I hope it is not deeper than the last one. I would say it is not common either these storm systems here! Will barely have time to patch up from the last one and the next one is on us...What is uncommon is us missing the snow though. Gone round to too much of a north westerly so we won't see anything here from that unless something more organised I suspect. You seem to have done well in East Ayrshire. Thought that was a bit of a snow free zone but you have a pretty good bit of altitude on your side - enjoy
  12. hah, yeah, too much made of blizzards here - once I heard that I knew there would be nothing!! Still expect some showers later on in the day though once things get going properly. But they may not - again it looks like the stream of showers is just going to miss to our east for here. a funny old start to winter here missing out on a few of the events but I suppose I cant complain as we usually get our fair share here! Bit of DIY for the weekend then? Certainly for me outside there are plenty things to try a and either find that have blown away or fix that have been broken. Roof tiles too which are a pain to try and put back where they come from - inevitably the most awkward and highest part of the roof...!
  13. Ah, good luck cheggers - missed that news. May the wind be always at your back...say
  14. Maybe, temps not dropping so quick. sleety stuff just now - by the time it drops enough the precipitation will have gone!! I am sure we will see some snow showers tomorrow though - seems to be a pesky strong westerly component again though so may miss out. Just realised the MetO issued a secondary warning for up here. A bit late?? or was it always there I am a bit late noticing it?
  15. jeez - these gust are worse than ever. just f off winds!! looking at XCweather then we are nearly there...please!! lots of other smashing and crashing just happened outside. doe snto seem to be from my place (that I can see!). on the plus side definitely getting more and more wintry than rain. I am on the flight path in to Aberdeen airport, 5 miles out. The plane that is just going in now is crabbing at an interesting angle, wing tips wobbling some what!! stomach churning just thinking of being on it!! The pilot will be earning his crust anyway!! Right, outside for a craft one. not the weather for it but needs must and the mrs quite rightly banned me from puffing inside!
  16. ach, one of these things. as say in grand scheme of things not drama. Not to say it is not a pain in the I have a problem tho! Just tried to make it secure just in case it elopes to the neighbours garden, tho not convinced that's possible in this. Nearly there - just another hour to go I rekon and it will subside??!!
  17. And that is my shed blown over and smashed up. I even weighed in down with concrete blocks just in case! Ah well, in the grand scheme of things and all that....
  18. winds a strong as ever here unfortunately - another hour or two then will start to calm up here. Then maybe some snow with any luck if we get enough of a northerly. tamps back to 3C after around 6C about an hours ago. a bit of a yo-yo.
  19. Was 3.5C about an hour ago. Now 6C?! No signs of winds calmign here yet unfortuantely - if anythign worse than ever.
  20. The RainToday radar animation shows nicely the precipitation streaming down from the north. I guess start to see it gettign wintry again at lower levels in cmoing hours across the country...
  21. on a slightly lighter note if that is possible, this had me giggling before I read the other sadder news...you need sound!!
  22. very sad - just hope the next 6 hours passes as smooth as possible and no more news like this. listening to it outside I fear not
  23. 966 and still falling here. wildest it has been all day now and worse to come....
  24. Yeah, on the east side I am expecting the worst for the next 6 hours or so. Don't think will be as bad as south and west but a final sting in tail. lots of reports of damage coming through
