  1. I think we got our monthly quota of much needed rain last evening and night. thunder too. a couple of okay looking days coming it and was nice today too, out of the wind. not sure of weekend but mixed at best. So another nice Thursdy and Friday followed by not so good weekend. bit of a (annoying) trend.
  2. hello all. well the weekend was a little disappointing after the Thursday and Friday weather of last week, but at least it was well forecast so I prepared myself psychologically! Actually the weekend saw some sun so was not too bad, though cool. Yesterday so some sun too and was pleasant. The skies are heavy today and looking at the rain radar animation just now it is amazing/fantastic to see the anticyclonic swirl over the whole UK - showing up really well. I love weather! I hope we get some rain here out of it as we have missed out on most of what has been going about. would be interested to see the rainfall stats for here - we must be well below average for what is a generally dry part f the country as it is.
  3. beautiful morning. was 23C in my garden at 7pm last night. don't think yesterdays peak of 26C will be beaten today but still be great. on down side things very dry and I cant see any sign of things changing that much. certainly for northern and eastern scotland through next week I think little or no rain will make it here. Will try and get out of work early this afternoon to make most of the weather.
  4. morning all. yeah, much improved day yesterday. breezy but mild. today I would say warm, and no wind. Aberdeen currently warmest place in UK at 18C and high today and tomorrow for here of up to 24C. In typical Scottish summer style it looks to be very short lived and breakdown at the weekend (bang on Friday night actually, grrrr!). I have my fingers crossed that at least we have a nice Saturday and the breakdown is delayed but odds seem against just now. ah well.
  5. Yup, would tend to agree. Not sure on elsewhere but here certainly the showers are really even useful in that not much rain coming from them. Pleasant in the sunny break but tend not to last long! I not looked at the models in yonks (since I finally accepted no more snow was to come!) but hopefully another nice spell is on its way.
  6. Some good amounts of rain here at the weekend. The temperatures were not too high here as we had an off sea element to the breeze. Rain done the garden wonders. Fantastic morning today. Quite mild and clear blue skies. Forecast for the week looks okay. Maybe some showers about later in the week but nice temps and plenty sun too.
  7. Been bone dry here. Radar showing another band that hopefully will stay in tact and give us a little rain. As gilly says, not enough though.
  8. stunning weekend. warmer day on Sunday but Monday cooler and cloudier, though cloud cleared and a nice afternoon I spent in my shorts in the garden attempting to introduce some colour to my garden. Wall to wall sun today, but cooler wind again. Things looking to get cloudier from ?Thursday onwards? Seem going to stay dry here but (probably needed) rain for west and southern areas it looks like?
  9. PS just checked and -4.3C the min to 17C the max for altnaharra last night/today. Aberdeen was -1C min to 12C Max - winds light so has felt lovely today.
  10. Morning all. Back from a long weekend in Kenmore. Saw an Osprey fishing there too - it caught a big trout by the looks, though just missed it catch it, just saw the before and after but that was spectacular enough! Weather here been nice as it is everywhere else it seems. Colder yesterday and today but still very nice in the sun and shorts and t shirt weather as long as no wind!! In the suburbs on my way in to work there were people scraping ice of their cars.
  11. A bit of a harr/cloudy day again. previous days have cleared up, but think today will remain mainly overcast. Looking better tomorrow then weekend sunny spells it seems. Down south it looks set to be a corker but more cloud for Scotland. still nice though!
  12. Cloudy but slightly warmer today. Everything very dry. Struggled to 10C yesterday but felt colder - considered lighting the fire at one point while drooling watching master chef. Warmer again tomorrow and the weekend mid to high teens on the cards? Not sure how much sun there will be - met office saying fair bit of cloud but improving as weekend goes, and the start to next week look even better. Beyond that who knows but it is bound to break down in time for Easter!
  13. Nice and sunny today after yesterdays cool and blustery. Little rain yesterday, ground baked and solid. Just reaching 10C and no more today - in sun nice, out of soon chilly! Snow for the tops of the hills today I see on the web cams. The week looks to be improving is my take on the basic weather forecasts. Seems a bit cooler and some interesting beefy showers in the west today but for rest of week More sun symbols and a bit higher temps across Scotland. Nice.
  14. morning all. fantastic weekend. Saturday slightly hazier and cool temps of 13/14C here, but in the sun was lovely. yesterday was "Scottish hot", perhaps nudged 20C or beyond here on the coast though never looked at a thermo. We had a spot or two of rain from the remnants of one band of rain, getting brighter now before a second band reaches here this afternoon. Could do with a bit of rain for the garden actually but suspect by time it gets here will be not up to much. then nice day tomorrow, though much cooler, then cloudy generally for rest of week.
  15. morning all. ground hog day - another nice start and good forecast for the day. probably feeling warmer as the winds (HOPEFULLY!!) drop down a bit. Certainly quite calm just now. Good forecast generally for the weekend too, though western regions could start to feel the cool down and showers on Sunday. Then cool down and showers for all through next week - will feel much cooler, but seasonal. Maybe I will manage to get some work done then.
  16. morning all. Another nice day in prospect it seems. much fresher today. officially 8C in Aberdeen, though my garden temp reports 11C. But less wind today so feels very pleasant. The same looks to be the case over most of the mainland with some showers perhaps in the west but nothing major. So looks like everyone can enjoy it, and even the weekend is looking okay. blimey. As SS has been pointing out the weather is firming up on turning cooler (and more seasonal to be fair) next week.
  17. send this sun this way!! Up to 20C now, but hazy...definitely not complaining though and as I type sky's look to be clearing... just been gardening - muscles aching in places i didn;t know I had muscles. Went to the fridge for some juice, but ended up with a bottle of Black Isle Brewery GoldenEye instead...fear that is the end of the gardening.,,.
  18. 19C here, but only hazy sun, and a tiny spot of rain a while ago. Cloud looking to break now though, and in turn hopefully 20C will break too! rain starting to ease elsewhere and sun coming out too so that's good for all.
  19. morning all I think it reached 17C, maybe just 18C yesterday. A nice day and was in the garden in shorts and t-shirt all day. Windy though. Today 14C in Glasgow and Edinburgh already, 13C here. I think we will beat yesterday in the NE and down the east coast, particularly east lothian which I think is a favoured spot for squeezing best temps and sunshine out of any nice weather. May be cloudier further south and west though which may scupper it. Some high cloud here but mainly sunny and sunny spells forecast all day. Another gardening day for me...will have to work the weekend to keep the wolf from the door though... PS any news from those in the weather warning regions of last night and today over in the west on the rainfall?? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-12978475 Sound immense possible totals - hard to imagine given weather we have had here in the same time.
  20. 12C quite widely across Scotland already - what we going to climb to?? MetO revised up their estimates to 18C today, and 19C for tomorrow. Blue sky day anyway, but cloud building through the day. We should keep generally dry here though damper at times, and very wet spell for parts of more western regions tonight and tomorrow.
  21. Breezy and chilly but generally dry here, nice sunny evening too now and the warmer air finally starting to reach here. Met O have a nice couple of days and milder too for the NE so may make the most of it an down tools and get on with some outside chores. 16C with sunny intervals tomorrow, 19C and sunny intervals Wednesday. sounds good to me.
