  10. I've known of quite a few years when big high pressure systems become established favoring NW parts of the UK. Also very dry here in N Ireland - in fact wildfires becoming a bit of an issue with nearly 900 tackled by the fire service since the start of April B) . http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/7411946.stm
  11. Hi Franko I just discovered your thread this evening and have to say that it made a great read. Been lucky to have visited your country over the past 2 years, on both occasions to the lake area in June 2006 (not much happened in the way of storms) and August (amazing overnight storms over lake garda). Just wondered what is the best time of the year for storms in your area? - I'm guessing that things could be very dry over July and August?
  12. Last 2 weather pics - funnels that formed just off the north shore of Lough Neagh on 29th April

  22. my 2nd weather pic for Dec: early signs of a cold and foggy night
  23. Met Office hinting at colder conditions for eastern areas: UK Outlook for Monday 31 Dec 2007 to Wednesday 9 Jan 2008: A slow moving band of rain is expected to affect many parts on Monday. High pressure will be building though, so by Tuesday, many places should be drier. During the rest of the period this high pressure is expected to lie over the near continent which will allow southerly winds to dominate. There are indications that eastern parts will be rather cold with frost and fog by night, which may be slow to clear in the daytimes and also the threat of wintry showers. Further west there is likely to be more in the way of a breeze, along with the threat of some rain, particularly in the northwest, though it should be milder here. These unsettled conditions could edge across the whole country towards the end of the period. Updated: 1421 on Wed 26 Dec 2007
  24. SH, Thanks for all the updates, looks like you get some great weather over there. Have a look at the cape and li projections for the Darwin area
