Had thunder for much of the afternoon over N Ireland, strikes not that frequent at around 2/min at its peak but has caused some power-cuts in the the Province (NI Electric state that there were >500 direct hits to their network), but happily no probs here

Hail to 4 inches in diameter... thunderstorm wind gusts to 70 mph... and dangerous lightning are possible in these areas. The Severe Thunderstorm Watch area is approximately along and 80 statute miles east and west of a line from 40 miles northwest of Waco Texas to 70 miles south southeast of Junction Texas. Just had a snow shower that lasted about 30 minutes here in Co Antrim. Snow is sticking but not deep (only a few mm) but a nice surprise, didn't expect it so far west!

Big dumping of snow overnight - 12-13cm at 9am this morning :o Heavy snow quickly turned to sleet then rain showers. The showers were pretty intense with a few flashes of lightning this evening. Very windy all day, but has calmed down at long last. All in all a pretty amazing day here :lol:

Very intense storms in N Ireland this afternoon, frequent lightning strikes and hail. Traffic was stationary for a time on the way home from Belfast....motorway looked more like a river!
