  1. Amber warning issued. UK weather warnings WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Met Office UK weather warnings for rain, snow, wind, fog and ice. Choose your location to keep up to date with local weather warnings.
  2. Don’t think the dog Norman or I will be walking the tops….. wondering if I’ll be able to get his 93 year old human to her pre-op Friday.
  3. Where I walk the dog Norman, on the tops, the last two years have seen a remarkable increase in flock numbers, prior to that, very few. Also, we always get fieldfares, and again, the last two years, much larger flocks, ditto jackdaws. Today saw huge flock of mixed birds, far larger than I’ve seen before - crows, jackdaws, magpies and starlings on the ground before they all winged off in their groups, so wonder what is going on.
  4. Pantsy weather here too. Likewise wasted garden weekend. Do large mumurations of starlings signify anything other than there’s lots of them?
  5. A day of blue skies, sunshine and wintery showers. Go round one hill, sunshine, 5 minutes later wet snow. Off and on all day, but with a chilly wind.
  6. Snow on the tops this morning I got, nothing at our level. Occasional wintry sleety coldy showers. My mi d has moved to spring and veg seed sowing so roll on spring and don’ be too cold this year, especially as the electricity cap has been sent skyward! We are waiting installation of solar battery to give us harvested power in evenings from solar panels.
  7. Jolly lovely morning, sun, blue sky, quite fresh breeze. You can tell commercial life back to normal, sky littered, if that is the right word, with contrails. interesting cloud formation on the tops walking the Norman Dog.
  8. Crivens! A bit blinkin chilly today. Currently 4 Celsius, shrouded in cloud. Heating in day back on. Can manage when it’s about 6-8 outside with sunshine to warm the house but this is ugh.
  9. Another frost this morning, but not as deep. Frost now gone, but no blue skies, just cloud, which is Pegging temperature at about 4 degrees, chilly and dull.
  10. The neighbour’s drive at 2 o’clock this afternoon, interesting pattern between drive that had sees sunlight and that which didn’t. Temp back down to 1 from a high of 6. I love days like these. This is winter, snow is not our natural winter state.
  11. The road over tops from Glyn dropping into Llangollen. Roads so white with frost it looked like snow. Needless to say, journey back from vets along the bottoms.
  12. Another heavy frost here, currently -2 but clear skies so top run to vet should be ok. My veg garden looking festive with frost on the kale. Hope that buggers the cabbage white caterpillars!
  13. Another glorious day, albeit very cold and very frosty this morning. Hard grass frost dog walking this morning and still iced puddles in beautiful sunshine in the lunchtime walk. Dog number two to vets tomorrow am, forecast mist, I hope not, it’s 8 miles over the tops or a 20 mile trip over the bottoms…..
  14. Quite a hard frost this morning in our little frost pocket with sub-0 temp, clearer elsewhere. Gorgeous blue sky day here. Currently 8 in the sun, 5 in the garden as sun has swung behind Nantyr Hill.
  15. A digression question from me, without follow on chart analysis. Why, given the latitudinal similarity of Europe to US (presumably Scandi countries/Canada excluded (?)) is there such difference in snow/lying snow? I try to follow Tamara and Catacol’s posts but flounder. Perhaps a pointer from the learned ones to the right thread/forum? Thank you. we’ve had a mere whisper of lying snow. Plenty of whiteouts today, but snow too wet to stick.
  16. Early morning dog walk with The Duchess, Chirk, cold rain, driving back through Pontfadog - sleet but could see snow on hills. Lunchtime dog walk on tops with Norman, wet snow on ground, horizontal sleet and bythe time we got back, snow gone.
  17. Very light dusting this morning, more on tops but at our level more frozen mush so frozen rain, hail, itty bitty snow. Temps dropped rapidly this evening, so fingers crossed for a bit of transient snow either tomorrow or Thursday.
  18. Wintry precipitations here on the Wrexham/Shropshire Marches, mainly hail but some Bibbidy bobbedy snow.
  19. Beautiful blue skies with light whisps of cloud today, but reet chilly mind you, after the little Spring of the last week.
  20. Really don’t think we will ever achieve that, or be set up to cope with that, or even want to. Most we will be able to achieve is extreme average temps….. Happy New Year and here is hoping for the New Year to give you snow.
  21. A quite windy day, but oh so mild, and at least dry with a peep of sun. The many anoraked walkers look much happier today than the drenched cohort trudging over the tops yesterday. A quiet evening until the inevitable fireworks resounding through the valley. Only cat it will surprise will be the junior, Pookie, the other two venerable elderlies are deaf, so they will continue to snooze and snore the night away, as I will come 10:00pm. A glass of chilled Prosecco awaits, so raising it to you all and wishing you a happier 2022. Happy New Year!
  22. Soooo, what happened to the nu mantra ‘don’t trust ‘em after t72?’
  23. Oh bless the madbods in the madMod! The ‘Hunt for cold’ is on again and IN SPITE of deafening resolutions not to trust any models outside of 72 hours, they are all off happily talking up day 10. Normal is resumed…..
  24. After a mild night another mild day. After a beautiful sunny afternoon yesterday back to the murky lucky cloud and rain. Might be mild, but my feet cold…. So quick cup o’ tea then off to walk Norman the dog.
