Constant lightning again for some time now and continuous rumbling gradually getting closer. So humid!

Nothing of note here in SW Essex (Thurrock area)
Coming down a bit heavier now as I popped out to the bins!
-
Well it's certainly gradually getting heavier here.

Worth noting the convergence line shown on the 00z Sunday FAX chart is at the EXACT same angle as the Feb 09 streamer, through S.London, out into Surrey near Guildford then through Hampshire (broadly along with the amber warning, may need to be slightly 'fattened')
I remember that event well, it was excellent here in Ockendon. This morning we have an inch or so everywhere except roads and pavements and it's been snowing since quite early, some of it huge flakes!

915 radar update
clinging onto the back edge here with more building over tonbridge ( still pitch black here )
Sweet spot currently for next 2 hours
SE & central / East Essex.
Colchester down to NE london - all points SE down to the thames-
Can the tonbridge line build!?
I think that's good news for my area then? Been snowing steadily for a while now and the sky looks full of it!

Well things are looking good now;
- unexpected streamers today still on going
- the MET Office just moved the Amber warning slightly East for tomorrow. interestingly its in the highest impact in the matrix, so once they know for sure its going to hit, in theory should be red warnings.
- Plus if the latest ECM run is to be believed cold is here until Thursday now if with snow opportunities everyday. But that obviously subject to change when we don't even know for sure what is happening tomorrow.
Do you think we should expect much in our neck of the woods? Snowing very heavily in Tilbury earlier.

Unfortunately I'm now on the other side of the region! That being said I gave Ockendon a visit today, nice covering of snow there, even if most of the morning the streamer was literally miles to the north.
We've had a few heavyish horizontal showers late afternoon, one of which I got caught in, but it hasn't got above -1 in my back yard today. Lethal underfoot too!

Depends on what you want, for the west of the area it looks ok for probably 3-6cms which is probably about where the mean of the models is at the moment. Not so good the further east you go, but for most of you guys in the east, you've more than had your fill anyway now
Hi! You're not living in Ockendon anymore then? I always used to look out for your posts as someone local to me! not that I don't read them now of course!

Temperature seems to be dropping rapidly now. -3.9.

We've had a couple of heavyish showers recently and some others passing close by. Here's hoping!

Snow getting heavier again in north Essex
And in the south, and I can confirm it is absolutely bitter out there!

Getting very dark now after the beautiful sunshine! still about -3.

I have waken to a blanket of snow. Roads have not been gritted as the snow was not expected to be as heavy today as there was supposed to be heavy snow in the overnight on Monday in the early hours of the morning (amber warning) but hardly snowed. Any areas that don't get any snow today will get it either on Thursday or Friday.
Looks very like my back garden this morning! Whereabouts in Ockendon are you? My daughter managed to get to work in Tilbury quicker than usual this morning! But my hubbie only managed to get as far as Barking on the train so he is coming home again!

Just been talking to my husband in Barking,he said that where the snow hasn’t disappeared, it has rapidly turned to ice making untreated surfaces quite dodgy!
My hubbie took the easy way out today and decided not to squeeze himself onto a packed train. His motorbike was out of the question too!

you could fare better, especially in a more easterly which is likely - don't despair, I was concerned until 11pm last night then the heavens opened here in Leigh
We've had some really heavy showers here today, so I will take your advice and stay hopeful!

there is a rash of showers developing heading SW which is a bit of a surprise given that we are under a direct easterly atm
bodes well for this evening and overnight which, as per previously mentioned, could mirror events of last night
Oh dear, so just a sprinkle for us then!

Yes and the last lot has only melted in the sun! plenty left in the shade still!

Serious question - I have a friend flying into Southend airport from Amsterdam at 10am tomorrow morning! is he likely to have problems? Thanks everyone!

Sorry, S.essex will be fine as your close enough to the Thames to benefit from any streamers that do crop up. Being a S.Essex native, I'm fully aware of the local weather!
Are you not in South Ockendon anymore Kold? I always followed your posts as a fellow Ockendonian! I shall continue to do so of course!

Filling me with a lot of anticipation Southender, although I am further down the track in Rayleigh.
And I'm even further down in Ockendon! We did well here for snow in December 2010 so here's hoping for another good dump this time around!
