  1. Grrrr the ppn keeps fizzling out before it reaches here. I want it all, and I want it NOW! (stomps feet impatiently) Bish
  2. Somebody ban him, send him to the tower, cut off his head etc etc ajpoolshark you should be arrested for inflicting mental cruelty and suffering lol Bish
  3. Currently -1.3 here near Solihull, with a DP of -5.9 Can somebody remind me, how far above zero can the temperature rise before snow becomes less likely? Not saying that it's likely to be an issue today, just wondering generally Bish
  4. You just need to sit her down, hold her by the hand and quietly explain that you intend to spend the evening online watching a bunch of pixels slowly working their way across a map. If she doesn't understand, just grunt something about NAE, ajpoolshark, and ECM ensembles, and leave her to it  Bish
  5. lol the words of a true snow junkie! In truth I think it's only really parts of the Black Country that can genuinely be classed as higher ground, until you get to the north of the region anyway. But every little helps Bish
  6. Yep, followed an hour or so later by us in Solihull. Looks like it's pepping up a bit as well Bish
  7. Great pic, thanks for sharing. What's the expected movement of that front - NW to SE, W to E, SW to NE? Bish
  8. Hi Andy. What sort of height elevation does Leicester have? Or is it too low to be a factor in most events? Bish
  9. Yes, certainly for more western parts of the region anyway. That's pretty much been the expectation all along. But crucially, the forecasted period of rain seems to be getting shorter and shorter Bish
  10. Yes, absolutely. So long as it doesn't stray too far above zero when the initial front arrives. And the westwards push on the latest forecast is certainly encouraging Bish
  11. Wow the temperature has really shot up in the past hour. It was still -7.5 at half past eight this morning, now it's -3.8. To be expected though, as the cloud cover rolls in. PS we eventually got down to -8.3 last night, coldest night since December 2010 Bish
  12. Late afternoon I believe. Probably an hour or so before it starts getting dark I should think, although the heavier stuff (if it arrives) won't be until the evening. Bish
  13. I'm down to -6.6 now, and still falling. DP is currently -9.6 Bish
  14. Thanks for the update Cheese Rice, very informative Looks like I'm inside the green area, but very close to the orange zone. Just one more shift west.......... Bish
  15. lol that's a brilliant analogy. Of course what we really want tomorrow evening is a Jonathan Trott-esque 10 hour humdinger....... Bish
  16. Looks like you're right in the firing line, NS. About time the Northants posters had a change of luck For us further to the west, it looks like a period modest-to-heavy snow between 16:00 to mid-evening, followed by a briefish spell of rain. Ice could be a real problem on Sunday morning. Bish
  17. Blimey you're a glutton for punishment aren't you? If fretting about the snow doesn't get us, then another England batting collapse will Bish
  18. What temps are people currently recording? The colder the better tonight, helps entrench the cold for the big event tomorrow Currently -4.1 here in Knowle, and falling fast Bish
  19. I'm really enjoying these "golden oldies" Mr Data, keep up the good work Would you happen to have the forecast covering the massive overnight storms which swept up through the Midlands in early August of the same year? I recall it was during the time of the 2nd test vs South Africa (Aug 4th-8th 1994) at Headingley. Bish
  20. Yes, definitely a slight wobble in his voice at the end. He probably felt under a lot of pressure, normally forecasts end with a cheery "bye bye for now" sort of line, but that would have come across as being a bit inappropriate in the circumstances. Bish
  21. Very spooky! I wonder what it could be? Bish
  22. Thanks for sharing the video Mr Data So many happy memories of the summer of '95. I was 21yo at the time, and I remember what seemed to be day after day of endless sunshine and scorching temperatures, Brian Lara batting for hours on end, and of course the Battle of Britpop (well it seemed important at the time). I worked near Edgbaston back then, so I used to catch a train to & from Birmingham every day. At the peak of the heatwave the evening trains kept overheating and breaking down as they left Moor Street............not a pleasant experience, stuck in a train carriage with no air-conditioning along with dozens of very sweaty fellow passengers.
