  1. Heavy snow in braemar.. just back from a 700 mile round trip to Yorkshire, took 45 mins to get up the hill at glenshee, really need to get winter tyres! Maybe 3in of snow on the road and not been gritted. A1 wasnt bad at all, but saw flashes of lightning over fife, wind howling here but awning still up, very blustery.

The farm here is fairly small in todays terms and is served by internal tracks so we do very little road work but todays large scale units have very large tractors which complete their fieldwork very rapidly and then have to race along the roads to their next field .In so doing it seems they are more often on the road than in the field They have been built with this in mind with their 50 and 60  km/hour gearboxes. These huge tractor tyres are notorious for spreading mud everywhere especially in such a wet autumn/winter as we have had. Often feel that its bad PR for farming seeing all this mud on the road when a powered road brush would be just a few thousand pounds compared to the hundreds of thousands spent on these big tractors

Currently clear and 2c with a  ground frost out of the wind

Makes life very interesting as a biker...

The lady that lives in the caravan who runs the shop has some lovely dogs.. I think she used to show them some years ago?

She left some time ago. All new managers and staff this year. We have a daft basset though...

  4. Proper blowy here in Braemar,  loads of rain through the night. Glad I managed to reseal my rooflight last week or it would have been dripping all night.some snow on the tops of the hills round about and the wind has gotten much colder.10 mins outside and that was enough for me. 3 degrees now but feels much colder. We open again on Friday,  here's hoping for snow to bring in the skiers.

Drove to oban and back yesterday and the roads were terrible, so much water. ...and potholes..

  5.  my wee weather station said lowest temp overnight was -8.9. Drove back from Fife  last night and it was interesting to watch the temps change. Temp rose climbing up to glenshee, then dropped again down to braemar. Glenshee was -3. This was 20 mins later in braemar.

Still -2.8 now at nearly midday.

  6. -4.5 degrees now. Yr.No are forecasting -12 for me on Tuesday!

As we now live in a caravan, and try not to use the on board facilities, I need to stop drinking so much coffee, as the walk to the toilet block isn't pleasant every hour or so. Defo made the right choice in buying a German caravan, toasty constant 22 degrees inside, and everything inboard so no freezing. Park is closed for a month, so all the wildlife are taking over, red squirrels everywhere, and rabbits . I've had a few moments coming over Glenshee late at night with stags in the road too!
