nothing here but there was breaking news on breakfast tv that 5,000 power cuts had happened in the north east I think
unlucky for them. i'm just hoping this freezing rain me and Deep Snow have seen here locally isn't too widespread, otherwise it might be our turn next. won't take much of it to bring power lines down. v7 not saying there's any about though, but perhaps it's cos it's so fine?

very fine ice pellets falling here now

radar is showing snow very close to us in Maesteg, but it seems to die just as it reaches up. good thing is though Bridgend and Cowbridge southwards was clear a while back, but now they're engulfed in pink on v7, and it all SEEMS to be heading this way....
-
Right! Cardiff is crippled guys! Time for the Valleys to rise up, and overthrow our oppressors! Who's with me?
hang on two minutes though, while I pop on a scarf, and some mittens.....

Woke up to disappointment. Feeling rather sad. Amazing to see the snow everywhere else!
long way to go yet. we're day 2 into a 3 day event, or maybe even 4 days, and you might get lucky yet. these aren't no ordinary snow events.

user Deep Snow was right about the freezing rain too. getting it here in Maesteg. very very fine drizzle of it. can see the tiny rain drops on my front window, and the van window is coated with a layer of ice too. if this keeps up, bye bye power lines.cos they won't be able to take the weight of the layer of ice. imho.

Yep, BBC reporting it as one of the higher depths, there's no chance of 51cm outside.
i'd say there's bigger drifts than 51cm about, but, it's the BBC, so let's make allowances, eh?

No way at athan reporting 51cm that's near those?
probably a drift?

looking at GFS, quite a few hours more to come today, and I am still wondering if the mild push they are going for later in the weekend will actually transpire, given the charts very poor run up to the event regarding the progress of the milder air. We'll see.I suppose. Happy the power has stayed on right through. any news on any power cuts?

Oh and this current freezing rain has given and layer of ice to everything, genuinely dont want to go out in it today and can see it being quite dangerous
you've had freezing rain have you?

cracking event so far to be fair. like a mini 1982. lol
not bad considering it's the 2nd day of spring.
more to come too looking at v7. looking outside though, because of the way it has blown the snow into random foot/2foot high tumps, maybe our depot could have opened today, for limited deliveries, but i'm not complaining about the day off.
don't fancy being out in that wind.

I just looked outside and can see the moon in the gaps in the cloud, so thought it was close! Guess the heavier stuff is just a bit too far to our east then?
precipitation pepped up again close to you though. the hills here are definitely having an effect i reckon

How are we looking on the v7 now, still coming towards us or that gap coming for us?
gap is really close to our west

had an additional 3 inches in the last hour. This is a significant event.
the fact that wales smashed the coldest march day on record is awesome. Most of wales today was colder that any part of the UK has ever recorded in March. With gale force wind as well.
was out working in it today, and the warmest i saw all day was minus 2

just put the kettle on, sit back and enjoy the show, for the rest of the weekend. this isn't weather to be going out in.
