  1. We live next to a railway enbankment and a stream so have the same problem with rodents. Unfortunately those who have bird feeders, or perhaps the wrong sort of bird feeders, seem to attract the furry little devils. The local Council even recommends not using feeders. It's a shame because it is great looking out on a winter's day a seeing a different variety of birds in the garden.
  2. Cheers mate. I think it was a bit early for us all this morning! I may have mis-read you, apologies if I did. Woould also like to see Cornwall and Devon join in the fun. Still crisp here in Petersfield and we may cop a bit tomorrow if that feature moves West a bit.
  3. Just to clarify I think Beast of Dartmoor heard there was going to be 20mm of snow I think, which is 2cm of snow. If he was referring to how much rain in mm = how much snow then that is different I agree. Also to clarify just copied the wrong quote!!!!!
  4. The further East you are the less the thaw I should imagine. No signs of a thaw in East Hampshire (yet!) and temps not forecasted to rise above 1c here. The feature from France looks interesting tomorrow but would need to be a bit further West for all of us in this Region. have a good days model watching!
  5. It's been a remarkable day really. The culmination of a week or more chart viewing highs and anguish. Very easy to be blase about this event. I have probably witnessed bigger snow events as a younger man but taken them for granted. Perhaps they mean more as you get older (50 this April!). Or maybe the gin is starting it's work!
  6. I think members are a bit modelled out just for a while. It'll get going on there again soon. Lots of interest in the short term for our region with Sunday's possible snow event from France.
  7. Yes and no sign of any thaw as far I can see eded and there is only an hour of so of daylight left so will probably be pretty crisp in the morning. Thinking ahead slightly, if we have the light snow forecasted for tomorrow and catch Sunday's event, goodness knows how many cm's we will reach. Normally play golf at Rowland's on s Sunday but not looking good this weekend old son!
  8. Looked like on the BBC South news that the snow did not go too far West, not even as far as here in East Hampshire. However, should things change we would not begrudge you a further dumping. Stillll snowing in Petersfield BTW!
  9. Not much left showing on the radar but still snowing heavily in Petersfield!
  10. Had to cancel a couple of deliveries in Rowlands this morning - could see it was getting a bit dodgy. Back home in petersfield now with copious coffee!
  11. I chose to do my Havant deliveries today thinking the snow would be lighter than Petersfield - what a mistaka to maka!! Luckily it was early enough that some of the side-roads still had virgin snow and it was OK to drive on. The Havant road going towards Rowlands Castle was a mare though! Thanks for the info buddy.
  12. Still snowing albeit lightly here in East Hampshire but there still looks an awful lot more to come! I will repeat what I said earlier, I still cannot believe how much snow Havant had this morning for such a coastal location. I bet they haven't seen the like very often. Perhaps an old Havantonian can let me know?
  13. Had to abandon my deliveries for the day. Tried to do some in Havant and it's a no go zone! never seen snow like that so close to the coast. Petersfield just as bad and still steadily snowing. What an event! Reminds me of the 80's when living in Surrey.
  14. Powdery snow in Petersfield so far but beginning to settle a bit. The main band has only just started to go through here. Mixed reports, some saying the band is stalling, some think it is speeding through. With the winds turning Easterly though I expect the front to stall and the snow to continue in Hampshire til tea time.
  15. That's twice tonight you've tickled someone's fancy Jackone! What After Shave do you use??? Still light snow here. Temp 0.6c.
  16. Still snowing here although very light now as the first (pre-band?) moves through. My Mrs ended up in the Co-op and paid double for shopping because the good folk of Petersfield have been panic buying since the first flurry at 3pm! We might get a pasting tonight/tomorrow!
  17. I think there must be something wrong with that station! Still light snow here over the other side of Butser and feels very cold out. There can't possibly be a 9-10 degree temp difference!
  18. I think it will probably slow a little once it hits the cold air of the block.
  19. The lamp post near my house has stopped working! Have reported it to the powers that be but still not fixed. Don't they know there is night time snow viewing to be done! Having to resort to watching the Petersfield town webcam to spot how heavy the snow is.
  20. No, this is just a little taster that appears to have popped up out of nowhere! Main business tomorrow for most!
