    Real-time wind gust speed question for newbie

    Hello noob (lol) dave49. I will tell you my opinion.Gusts only occur for extremely short periods of time, usually lasting no more than just 20 seconds, occurring at 2-minute intervals.It is obvious (I hope so), that it does not show the current wind speed every 48 seconds as the gust speed. Also, it is obvious (I hope so), that it does not show the average wind speed of the 48-second interval as the gust speed.I think it shows you as the gust speed, the maximum wind speed of the 48-second interval. Maybe it saves this in a virtual ram (random access memory), before it updates the monitor.But if we have two gusts in the 48-second interval? Imagine this:...40 mph in 13-second41 mph in 14-second40 mph in 15-second...35 mph in 39-second36 mph in 40-second35 mph in 41-second...In this case, probably we have 2 max points. 41 mph in 14-second and 36 mph in 40-second. I think it will show the 41 mph, as gust speed and it is the best, because, according theory, gusts usually lasting no more than just 20 seconds, occurring at 2-minute intervals.Also, I can suggest you the best pocket weather tracker: Kestrel 4500 Night Vision: http://kestrelmeters.com/products/kestrel-4500-weather-meterI have it in my hiking activity and it is excellent. It is not stable weather station, but it can be. Also, bluetooth connectivity is available (more expensive of course).In the next months, I will try to create an app for android (with widget) for phones with weather sensors (s4 - note 3). It will calculate many current weather quantities, including wind speed - gust.

    I am agnostic, but I'm not anti-religion...My daughter became Orthodox from her own mind...

    I respect and I accept agnostics, but I don't atheists. I think atheism is a big fake  I am sure your daughter is very smart, because she became Orthodox. I believe the current young generation will understand the difference between Orthodoxy and the other Christianities. Now, in Greece we have begun to understand this difference. Now, we follow the religion war in Islamic countries between Sunni and Shia, near to Greece and we are trying to understand what is happening.

    I will upload the photo and I will see the film.

    It's a small world though, isn't it? My daughter, son-in-law and kiddos are all Russian Orthodox, so the house is full of icons of Russian and Greek saints...

     

    If you enjoy Russian things, there's a good serial called Ð·Ð¾Ð½Ð°...Perhaps IrSCr knows of it?

    When I began learning Russian language, I had decided to write only on computer, never with my hand. And now writing with my hand is my love. Maybe, during the next days I will upload a photo of my Russian writing.

    If you learn to write with your hand the Cyrillic alphabet and Russian script, then all will be better and maybe easier.

    Привет, Konstantinos! It is great that you want to visit such interesting and extreme places in Russia! Especially Oymyakon. We have, in the Urals, even in the frosts -30 degrees seem to be very unpleasant, but what is -50 or lower, i can hardly imagine. And it is very good that you know Russian language.     Hello IrSCr. Who knows, maybe I will go in Oymyakon in a good period, not in February. I do not know why, but I think eastern Russia - Siberia is better than European Russia.

    I learn Russian language for many reasons, but I think the major one, is that I am Orthodox and Russia - Greece are Orthodox brothers. And of course I want to go in many Russian places. When you said Russians do not always understand each, you meant something like American English - British English? Or something more complicated for example a speaking between a person from a village in Scotland and one from a village in California?

    But 95L has many similarities with Ingrid. I think so. I have a friend from Cancun in Mexico, and I remember, both began from this region, and they went north - northwest for becoming depressions.
