Can confirm it was snowing heavily on m77 around eaglesham moor about half an hour ago. Good covering, bad driving though.

According to stv news tonight Darvel was the coldest place in Scotland last night. Minus 12 something. Didn't quite catch it.
Is this right?

The new band is proper rain here in east ayrshire/ Lanarkshire border. Not even a hint of sleet.
-
I guess the valid from 11am on the metO warning is in relation to Englandshire as it looks like it will be all over shortly.
-
Was also surprised this morning in East Ayrshire / Lanarkshire border. We've got about an inch and a half over everything even roads.
Just spoke to my wife and it's still all in tact as of now.
Should be enough for kids to go sledging after work. Up till now it has been pants here though.
Edit:

could someone clear something up for me.
i have seen on the model thread ppl saying 1mm rain = 1cm snow now i am sure i read somewhere that 1mm rain = at very best on rare occasions 8mm snow and is more likely to be between 4-7mm.
could someone who knows plz let me know what realistic total are.
Mine is easy. 0 precip = 0 snow. :-(
Sorry don't know the answer though.

Weather warning for snow has arrived.!!!
A bit strange since everything points to it being wrong.
No frost and not even feeling cold this Morning. Just can't see it happening.
-
wouldnt read too much into that this far out ppn charts arent gospel at this range and u dont know what ppn charts they are talking about might only be one model but this far out nobody can say who will get snow or not
EDIT: more than likely thety are using the GFS ppn charts and u have to remember GFS runs 4 times a day and is always subject to changes but still only look at ppn charts 48hrs out or less for them to be anywhere near right
It was if and Matt Hugo. Said fri east Scotland misses out and sat all Scotland misses out.
Still far enough out that it can change though.

Was it Dec 99 around Xmas that dumped a huge amount of snow on central Glasgow ? Seem to remember never having seen that much fall in a city centre before !

Think this was it. We had 18" of level snow!

I am sure they will post warnings soon for Scotland
Hopefully!
I have read a few posts on the MT mentioning rain for Western Scotland.
Guess we won't know till it comes.
-
Early warning out for Parts of England and Ireland for Friday.
Nothing for Scotland.
-
Awwww no snow for Perth, well that's just rubbish
Spare a thought for those in west central belt. I'm not even sure what it takes for us to get snow here anymore, it's been that long!

Thunder here!

Snowing now here in Kilmarnock, looks shortlived with not much more on the radar behind it but nice to see
Same here.
Didn't come to much though.

Not sure if it was freezing rain but on Christmas day 2010 I scraped about an inch of clear ice from my driveway. It was like glass over everything. We didn't even get out for Christmas dinner. The next day there were abandoned cars everywhere. We've had it like that a few times but that was the worst.

Met O Thursday to Saturday has been updated. Sounds good for Friday then milder Saturday.
Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:
Mainly fine and very frosty on Thursday. Friday catching chilling winds with sleet and snow moving east, turning to rain on coasts. Less cold but wet and windy on Saturday.

We have the finest snow I have ever seen falling at the moment - didn't notice it until I saw it starting to lie on the pavement and shed roof. It's so fine and almost impossible to see when I look out.
We had the same fine snow first thing this morning in Darvel. Could only see it under the streetlights and on top of cars.
-
Cold, Dry and Overcast. Doesn't get much more boring than this. Although it may lead to something down the line.
However it does keep the car clean as the roads are bone dry!

Snowing again in Kilmarnock this morning..
-
seek seek seek . I cannie bear it anymore - The charts are driving me mad!! Every time i dare to look they change the scenario - so i'm no looking any more - No snow here. Just ice - see there is a met office warning of ice from 5pm tonight - at least it will be frosty tonight.
Any piccies?for the snow starved east!!!!
Sorry but work network is locked down pretty well so can't get photobucket.
It's wet snow but it's Snow!

Snowing in Kilmarnock.

That was probably the heaviest Hail with Thunder and Lightning I've ever seen.
Glad I'm inside. That would have stung!
-
Another covering overnight here in Darvel.
With new snow overnight on the driveway again I'm starting to feel like LMFAO. "every day I'm shovelin". (sorry, kids thought it was funny)

Plenty of snow again in Darvel this morning. Dodgy drive to work.

Thought I would share some photos of last weeks snow in Darvel.
From my house halfway up a hill at 145m it's a fairly easy walk up to around 200m in about 5 mins then up to 300m in around 15mins.
So last week from house.
Up the hill looking back down to house.
Looking up towards 200m
That was as far as we got.
And after almost a week the road at 300m. Not bad for March!
And an old one I found in my photo bucket account for fun. From Dec 2009 I think. Not certain though.
