  1. I'm favouring Cornwall and Devon and perhaps parts of Bristol, Somerset and Avon for any wintry precipitation for the next hour or so, based on the latest radar images.

Yes there's a particularly potent lump of mayhem on its way judging by the radar. Feels considerably cooler tonight. I reckon The Beast will have a bit more tonight...

  2. Yes I would have to imagine so, given how wet the ground is, it would be unlikely to settle anywhere bar elevation at least at first. Furthermore, the zonal train isn't exactly budging either, but things can change quickly in UK weather, so most definitely a watch period. Posted Image  I hope Padstow fared ok today as I haven't caught up with all things newsworthy so far.

As far as I know - flood gates at Padstow harbour held up well and I think Wadebridge was ok. Some damage to the beach at Constantine. Erosion of sand and a wall has been partially swept away. Nothing out of the ordinary for this time of year.

A few inches of snow would be nice though...!

  3. Pirate FM travel news really emphasises the chaos on the roads tonight, power cuts, trees down, lots of flooding. The list is huge from Liskeard to St Just, from Newquay to the Lizard, there are problems everywhere!

Yes indeed - my twitter timeline is bursting with updates about flooding and downed trees. Going to be a big clear up needed to get things moving again in the morning. Rain has eased here considerably - is this just a lull or is the worst over for us?
  4. Tornado reported in one of the bays near me - Trevone. Bay at approx. 7.30am this morning. Some damage to garden buildings and other outside structures. Chickens killed but no-one hurt as far as I know. Only just found out about it from a friend. Lots of pics on Facebook of the aftermath but unsure if there was a funnel cloud or even if it was actually a tornado. Wasn't expecting that!!

  5. Very, very blustery here on the north coast. Much windier than Sun/Mon storm. Little rain but I think that may be later this evening for us. Read about a flood warning for the north Cornish coast - not surprised - the sea is really churning out there. Lost power for a short time this afternoon - wouldn't be surprised if it goes again.
